Is Halo 4/Halo dying?

Every time I get online and play Halo 4 I notice 2 things. 1-none of my friends are playing Halo 4. 2-the population of halo 4 is decreasing. As a long time halo fan this is depressing. The game had the ability to pull people into the game but, it didn’t have the ability to keep them there like the other Halo games did. This could be because of many reasons but the main one I think is that there is no real ranking system. I know this has been said many times but it’s true. The ranking system to multiplayer is the main reason why people come back to play. It’s not fun when someone’s max rank at the end of the first month that the game came out. I really wish that 343 had taken more time on the ranking system and just on the multiplayer in general. Maybe made the ranking system last longer and made it a little bit more competitive like in Halo 2 and 3. I know they are releasing CSR but you can only see it on Waypoint which sucks because you can’t see it in matchmaking and show it to everyone and no one knows when it’s coming out. Right now the game feels like a beta. A beta is not meant to last long and Halo 4 surely didn’t last long either.

Yes it is. Nothing is going to save this game at this point; not ranks, not a TU, nothing. It’s too late. Halo 5 needs to be a doozy to bring back people to the series.

I hope 343i learns from the mistakes that were made.

I didn’t realize you could see into the future…teach me your ways!

Population discussions can be continued here: https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst183468_Daily-Halo-4-Population-Thread.aspx

I’m sure your friends are playing COD/BF3 like mine are, neither has ranks that prove anything or skill based at their core. In other words most people are not looking for a competitive experience, people just want to have fun. Competitive communities are small no matter the game.

My take is H4 is its not casual or competitive, but frustrating. I’m not totally against AAs and PODs but they are too imbalanced and random. I’m a long time Halo fan, but this high level of WTF randomness is killing my love for this game. Team Throwdown is good but has so many quitters and is about 3 months too late.

Now imagine a new player or someone who plays multiple shooters. Their first impression will be horrible and they’ll go back to what they are comfortable with. Proof is massive population decline.

People dont care about Rank. They care about being camo camper killed or trying to drive a vehicle but being stopped every 2 seconds because some fool can spawn with a plasma pistol. They care about trying to use a weapon they like but getting stomped-out by someone using a better one by design.

People left because they didnt find Halo 4 fun. Bottom line.
