From what information we have been given so far, not including leaked info, do you think Halo 4 is an actual Halo sequel?
I feel as though it’s following the reach formula and it’s not looking like a Halo 3 sequel. It’s looks as though we will be playing a very casual friendly reach 2.0 this fall.
I miss the good times I experienced with Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3. Solid teamwork was always a must and to stand a chance at winning you needed to control the map, weapons, and power ups. I must say they did an excellent job of moving Unreal elements into the Halo universe.
I was a bit put off by the fact that Halo 4 will have instant respawns and random power weapon drops. I don’t exactly understand the logic behind putting sprint as default. Do they just want players to die, instantly respawn, and sprint their way right back into battle? Did it ever occur to anyone that people used sprint the most in reach because they didn’t have the “none of the above” option?
In my opinion the Halo formula was abandoned with Halo 3. The sandbox style Halo gameplay did not carry over into reach and it looks as though Halo 4 will not support Halo style gameplay. How many of you recall a time that you were a few kills behind in a game of slayer when your team finally grasped map control and won the game 50 to 48? The feeling of which cannot be described as nothing but “Halo”.
What are your thoughts of the Halo formula and how do you think it applies to Halo 4?
Let’s see, Halo formula? Weapons, melee and grenades?
Yes, I would say it does.
Let’s see, Weapons, Melee, and grenades. Yep still here.
I feel the same way as you, it looks like Halo 4 is following in the steps of Reach more then the original trilogy.
It’s following the Reach formula.
I whole heartedly agree,although I will probably be banned for it.

besides AA’s and loadouts what else is it taking from reach.

The golden triangle is present, what more is there?

Sprint, bloom, fall damage, credit system, no 1-50 playlist, etc…

sprint and credit system true
they haven’t confirmed fall damage but you know what other game has fall damage: CE
1-50 im upset with that being gone
you mention a bunch of external things but what about mechanics, pphysics, etc. jump height and base movement is similar to halo 3. Grenade damage is nerfed down. these are just two things that are different from reach but there is more and plus its still pre e3 so we don’t know too much anyway

sprint = aa
bloom = /facepalm
fall damage = where did you hear that? Oh and that was in CE as well, the very FIRST halo
credit system = 1 picture with a placeholder isn’t much
1-50 = sucks -Yoink-, full of boosters/derankers etc, it’s a good thing it’s not there.
etc

Well, technically, the Halo formula is Weapons, Grenades, and Melee, so…
Reach was a tired game, made by a tired company.
You wanna see if Sprint will work well in Halo 4?
Go play the maps 343 made.
They’re beautiful and balanced.
I’ve said it many times, and I’ll say it again.
Reach had the potential to be more amazing than any other Halo to date.
Bungie was just tired of Halo.
They had a masterpiece(halo), they took it apart, and sloppily threw it all together again.
It’s like taking apart a Ferrari, and having some wasted guy put it back together.

Sprint=/= AA
Bloom is back.
Fall damage was seen in a video and they removed fall damage in Halo 2 and 3 but brought it back with Reach.
Credit system= You can see CR being earned for kills in gameplay videos just like Reach.
1-5o=Way better then arena or no ranked playlist at all.

Don’t forget that they used the reach engine to build the game. Granted that doesn’t mean it’s a carbon copy but still.
It’s taking every gimmick introduced in reach and adding more on top of it. The reach formula is to substitute as much of the replay value as possible with gimmicks while leaving much to be desired with the actual gameplay.
No! its not about following reach (which was a great game, not as amazing as the first 3 but still i loved noble team) or following the originals, it is about improving the game in such a way that it remains exciting to old and new fans.
Just because something doesn’t have the exact same items doesn’t mean it doesn’t follow the formula

sprint = built in aa, so they say.
bloom on what DMR and pistol? it doesn’t even effect the pace of the shots, it’s only there so the DMR doesn’t destroy BR at all ranges.
That video was in a barn filmed with a potato.
There could be more than just credit system, Reach had arena, Halo 4 could have something completely new.
1-50 and arena both suck, you can’t say you enjoyed getting a deranker on your team half the -Yoinking!- time in your 40’s, or getting paired up against an insane booster at the level 20, because one useless 50 isn’t enough.

All of this points towards Halo 4 closely following the steps of Halo Reach which is my point.
