Alright, so I havent bought the game yet.
I realise there are gametypes that suit me better (IE, Super Slayer) but I’m concerned about the rest of the gametypes.
They sound mindless. Just another point and shoot with little to no tactical depth at all. One thing I really, really like about halo, is that it is one of few games where to do well you actually have to think. But from what I’ve heard, Halo 4 doesn;t have that.
Friendly Fire: An essential for halo. With weapons such as Sticky detonator, rocket launcher, inciniary cannon, grenades and various other explosive things, FF just really makes you think about how you use them. It just added a nice balance so that I can’t spam down hallways with any given explosive weapon and not worry about reprecussions.
Maps: Alright, I’ve heard good things about Haven, but the rest of them seem to be problematic. From what I’ve heard, theres no good holding points/places to control. I’m not talking camping or anything, but keeping control of areas via patrolling and holding pathways of main use has always been something halo has done well.
In halo 4 however, I’ve heard this is no longer the case. I’m concerned by this, as that is yet another lack of tactical depth that I am seeing.
Ordinance: Not a terrible idea, save for one thing. The good player will go on a massive onslaught without worry. Why? Because every 5-10 kills he can call down powerweapon after powerweapon, or extra damage or oversheilds. Will he have to think about when he calls them down? Yest, but now he won’t even half to fight for the guns or worry about getting it first. His enemys will be dead and he can just keep slaughtering them because they won’t have weapons of thier own. And, he will get more ammo without ever having to strategically plan for how he will get the next weapon delivered to his doorstep.
I’ve always looked at halo as a very tactical and strategic game. No longer.
And while I know one playlist doesn’t have these things (the playlist I will always be on, I might add) I just feel that they’ve really lowered the bar on how competitve and tactical the game is.
Can anyone confirm this for me? I’ll be buying the game anyway, of course, but I’d like to here thoughts on these issues by a person who has the game.
Thanks!
Silent
