Is Halo 4 a good idea?

Look, i can’t wait till Halo 4, but maybe everyone is getting a bit too carried away. Attachments, aiming down sights. People! Its getting too much like Call of Duty! Starting Halo 4 basically destroys the whole point of Halo 3 finishing the fight. Sorry but Halo 4 might be a complete failure.

halo 3 did finish the fight. now chief starts a whole new one.

as for it being CoD yes i do think that is being ridiculous and i hope halo 4 is more like 3 than reach. and i hope it does well but we wont know till it comes out

I disagree. Even if chief is starting a new fight, 343 has basically ruined the point of Halo 3.

Didn’t bungie ruin the point of Halo 3 with the Ending it had?

I dont think they did.

well your complaining about a new trilogy starting because of 343. when bungie is the people who left the game open for a new game or trilogy.

I think if you want to blame anybody blame bungie because after that ending 343 basically had to do it or else their would be a huge uproar from the fans

If you watched after the credits it does show 117 scratched into the stone. But, I think Bungie should have made Halo 4, not 343 industries.

Eh, I’m glad they’re passing the Rein, Bungie can go do something else, cause with Reach it felt like they lost their touch.

No.
Remember what happened last time they made a halo game.

It’s metal, not stone.

So you never watched the legendary ending? You’re blames are Biased. Do not be a Mendicant for support on this thread.

Halo 1- A new threat arises
Halo 2- The fight continues
Halo 3- Finish the fight
Halo 4- Start a new fight

For the purpose of Halo 4 I think that 343 is going to go back to basics when it comes to the gameplay and multiplayer.

Halo4 is fine it doesn’t ruin anything. I’m glad to see the story continue with MC, I’d rather not have them pull a star wars and do a prequel with him.

They already did, although it wasn’t a full trilogy and it followed Cortana a bit more than the Chief, and we only got a short glimpse of Chief in one cutscene in the prequel.

Of course I knew he made an easter egg cameo in reach but reach didn’t feature him in the story.

It also really didn’t follow cortana at all until the end levels.

A chief prequal would be about his actions pre cortana, I’m sure further down the road 343i will probably make that time span into a game series too. I’m glad they decided not to do it right now.

Call of Duty is not the first and only game to use these features. They’re staples in modern FPS games. I really don’t care if they continue the story, I love Halo and I’m happy to see another game is being made. I’d be kind of sad if they just let the IP go…

In my opinion of course, I totally agree with the OP. I don’t think 343 will do a bad job at all, but from a story perspective, I would imagine a new character in the universe to revolve around… not Chief. Chief is great and all, but continuning his story is disgracing Bungie’s Halo 3 storyline and ending. The reason Bungie left Halo 3 open at the end like that, as any good story teller would know, is for the players mind to travel through his own imagination, letting the player himself, imagine ‘what happens next?’.

No, no new character. John is EPIC!

John is an epic man of secrecy though, a shell that you take control of. The way Bungie left that continued that philosophy, but now becuase of Halo 4, it dosen’t seem like that.

I would say 95% of Halo fans wanted to see John continue his story.
