Once in a while I will peak my head into a campaign thread and well, people may as well be posting in German. I have played every Halo campaign so it’s a little odd that I haven’t even the slightest idea what is going on in story discussion threads.
Do you think 343 is making the story a little too complicated and obtuse? Do you think they may be putting a little too much emphasis on expanded universe content(stuff most H5 players have no knowledge of)?
Whatcha confused about?
I haven’t read all the books myself but I think i know about Halo lore lol.

Uh, is that even for Halo? Never heard of it.

didact, sorry
No, Read the books to get a better understanding.
What you are calling complicated is actually depth. You should read more books to familiarize yourself with plots that go beyond what you see in an avengers action movie.
I love “modern” Halo history (Human-Covenant war, etc) and I love Forerunner and ancient Human history. Just wish they didn’t try to mix the two

I somehow doubt even the majority of the millions of people who purchase H5 will have read all the books.
Oh, idk about an iso Didact lol sorry (you should know Ur Didact though)
Yeah, I need to get my hands on the more recent books too.

Ya I have no idea what they are. I just see people talking about the iso diddler and the ur diddler and how they diddle each other.
Iso-Didact was the Didact’s persona inside Bornestellar’s body, the team pictured with chief on the poster is Blue Team, his childhood friends (excluding Sam who died in the first Spartan vs Covenant engagement), and the rest of the Halo 5 stuff can easily be found out on halo wiki or something. But I would recommend reading the books, it’s a much better experience.

Who’s Bornestellar? Iso-Didact’s original name? o:

Yeah, this was a problem with Halo 4’s campaign. Unless Halo 5 has a MASSIVE prologue, or the new TV series addresses things, or some other clever means of informing people other than “go buy a book to understand your game”,it’s going to a repeat of Halo 4’s campaign story, but probably worse.
Now I am 100% for them incorporating expanded universe into the game, and I’m really excited about it, but I do get where that would be annoying if you’ve just played the campaigns once or twice when each game was launched. You probably don’t remember all the details from each campaign let alone tidbits and characters from the books.
That’s why I made THIS LITTLE JOKE … it’s not making fun of people who aren’t lore fans, it’s demonstrating my initial thought when I saw Blue Team on the new poster: “how are they going to explain who these Spartans are in the campaign?”
Maybe we’ll get Destiny-style grimoire cards (please, god, no).

Huh what was bad about Halo 4?
The only thing you may not have known was Laskey i guess? But I did watch Forward unto Dawn.

Yep. The Forerunner known as Bornstellar-Makes-Eternal-Lasting became the IsoDidact, the Didact that activated the Halo rings, and is a copy of the original Didact, now known as the Ur-Didact, the Didact from Halo 4.
I agree with Matteoarts, I would definitely recommend the books (and the comics for that matter). They open up the story much more, and flesh out a lot of the characters, including Master Chief, much more than the first few games did. You can easily find mostly all of the books at Barnes & Noble if your interested.

Ur-Didact= real and first didact
Iso-didact= a guy that was transformed into anoter didact
Didact= a name ( master chief, john, Cassandra)
Its like the bad guy in the matrix transforming everyone into him

People didn’t quite understand who the Ur Didact was and what his motivations were. Also, the terminals did a very minimal job in explaining.

I guess in the game directly, but the bonus video showing his and the Librarian’s past was good for me.
Need to read the book about how he survived though, is it really spoilerish to know that fact alone? lol
