I have reason to believe that our original Halo 5 teaser from E3 2013 (Chief in the desert with Guardian) could very well take place after the events of Halo 5: Guardians. During Halo 5: Guardians, Chief sustains the blunt damage to his visor from Locke, Guardians rise, and his relationship with Cortana suddenly takes a profound change. Symbolically, each of these appear in E3 2013’s teaser trailer. Chief’s visor has already been damaged, he was obviously looking for this Guardian’s location, clenches Cortana’s chip in hand to symbolize what he had lost, and the cloak to suggest that maybe Cortana has purged the galaxy of all functioning electronic technology besides herself, other loyal AI, and of course, a legion of Guardians to enforce a new age order. The Hunt the Truth ‘opposites’ trailers can also hold their own in suggesting those events take place after Halo 5: Guardians. A damaged Infinity in the sky (as Cortana was so interested in its whereabouts), John’s dialog to (who could presumably be) Cortana, and so on.With that being said, it is perfectly possible that 343 has already foreshadowed a Halo 5 part 2 before our eyes; one that was not too well delivered on, given most people’s disappointment and feelings of incompleteness with Halo 5: Guardians’ campaign. Incidentally, Halo 5: Guardians ends on the planet Sanghelios, where our original teaser trailer seemed to begin. Halo 5: Guardians’ post credits also confirm that Sanghelios will continue to be a setting in the future. This is pure speculation and drawing inferences of past and recent advertisement media for this title. Just something I’ve been thinking about, and I thought I’d share them with you! Thoughts, community?
Not really since all the guardians were activated. It was a teaser for Halo 5.
Could it have had elements that are going to be in Halo 6? Sure. Calling it Halo 5 part 2 is wrong. Thats like calling Halo 3 Halo 2.5
Halo 5: part 2 is called ‘Halo 6’.
It would be an easy plot device to incorporate that as a failsafe, that not all Guardians had remote uplinks to the Domain/Genesis. Things like this in other stories have been done before. As for your comparison to Halo 3, Bungie gave us Halo 3: ODST. Keep in mind that back in 2013 Frank O’Connor also announced that they didn’t want to limit the Reclaimer story arc to a trilogy, expanding it to ‘The Reclaimer Saga’.
ODST was a stand alone title that had completely different characters than 3 and only shared part of the same setting. Sure they included the Halo 3 multiplayer but that was most likely so that they didn’t split the player base. It was more of a “take this while we make Reach” kind of thing.
Again there is no reason to assume any kind of setup for a Halo 5.5
A teaser is nothing but a teaser. Sometimes they have nothing to do with the actual games story. Its not surprising.

Which is essentially irrelevant to the plot of Halo 2/3…

There is no reason to assume the next halo absolutely will be called Halo 6 either. It goes both ways. Come E3 this year, we should find out what 343 has in store for us in regards to Chief’s future. Hopefully…
I think Halo 5: Guardians just had a lot to set up for the next Halo game. Now that all of the introductions are off 343’s plate, hopefully they can do something exciting with 6’s campaign.

There is a perfectly good reason to assume that the next game from 343i is Halo 6 because that is their plan that they stated. You make it sound like Halo 6 wont advance the plot any further.
Do not mistake my intent. I have provided my thoughts to point out how each of the instances I discussed above are completely possible on the premise of the next Halo title (whether that directly be Halo 6, or Halo 5 part 2). Remember Harry Potter, The Hobbit, etc.? It is good to have an open mind, and would probably not be the worst thing in the world for 343 to reconcile with the mostly hurt fan base over Halo 5, including myself. It still is possible.

I actually agree with you on that part there. I rewatched the Chief version of the trailer and thought “Is he talking to Cortana??” The only thing that wouldnt match up would be that Chief’s visor is fixed and that he is pointing a gun towards Locke.
I would love to see a campaign expansion to H5, but I feel like we wont see anymore Chief or Locke until H6 comes out a couple years from now
