Is fun just a hard thing for you, 343i?

Here we are with another round of stupid things done by 343i. Gather round’, I have something to say. Won’t take long to say at all.

I don’t understand what it is with you and limiting players, 343. From downgrading Forge to downgrading the maps for Forge to downgrading Customs…it’s all really starting to be a kick in the pants for us creative players. And NOW? Apparently it’s too hard to put more items on maps. What I mean is, the latest DLC, Majested…the maps are nice and all, but is it so hard to just port all the Forge items from the Forge maps to the other maps? I know all the maps outside of the intended Forge maps have limited options, but I had hoped 343 could try to apologize a little bit for the lack of things in game by doing something simple. Like having all the Forge items on these maps. But, no, we don’t get those.

I truly don’t understand why you wouldn’t do such a simple thing. Are you worried about the size of the DLC or something? Come on, Halo 4 is already a massive game in terms of data size, a few more megabytes tacked on to the DLC maps isn’t really that big of deal.

Maybe you have no way to see how players could do anything unexpected and crazy on smaller maps that aren’t Forge canvases? Players have always done the unexpected in Halo and this would be no exception. But we’d never find out just what they could do now, because ADDING IN ALL OF THE FORGE ITEMS IS JUST TOOOOOOO HARD.

Maybe it’s my hangover that’s making me whine but come on 343, step up your game.

I totally agree with you, but there’s no point in shouting. Halo as we know it died in 2010 the day before Reach came out. I have no idea why 343 could of kept the forge world or at least something similar too, and I have no idea why Impact has an unremovable building placed in the centre which dosen’t make it a blank pallet. Then of course theres Firefight, Assault large team sizes and what they’ve done to Infection. But hey…

I will agree that it is odd that Halo 4 has very little customization options in every part of the game.It is truly sad that Halo 4 has less options than H3 did.

Obviously they couldn’t have made a Forge World for this one, Bungie barely managed to get the xbox to run the one in Reach, and that was before the engine was trying to handle the more advanced lighting model in Halo 4. That said I think just a huge wide open field environment would be a lot of fun and would still be possible with the heavier load on the hardware.

I’m just amazed at the incredible lack of anything really, it’s like they wrote down a list of things that should be In the game and added the absolute bare minimum.

No real ‘charm & love’ went into this game, at least with REACH it was bungies final send of so they went all out, even if it didn’t all go so well.

Halo 4 just seems like a game made by unoriginal people who just want to get paid for not coming up with new ideas.

No, it’s not even that. All the options were included in previous Halo titles, so these people actually removed them. So, they’re not creative because they didn’t create anything new–just pulled a few gametypes from other games (which isn’t necessarily bad, Dominion/Conquest is awesome) and they’re not reliable because they couldn’t even handle the long-established traditions. They even changed the art for…well, everything.

Perhaps the outdated hardware (the Xbox) is a factor in the limitation?

Map size, perhaps. That I’ll give them, but as for missing gametypes and all these common sense things…no, not at all. It’s not the Xbox’s fault.

A lot of the stuff Bungie had nailed down was just improved and iterated game after game, and took many games for them to get it all to the point where they finally got it. They had years of iteration, so of course Halo: Reach was going to be a massive game, feature-wise.

And then of course 343 Industries couldn’t match it. You’d be dense to honestly believe that they could. They built Halo 4 from scratch - programming all of their own systems and gametypes and things. They didn’t just copy and paste everything from Halo: Reach. They took the time to construct and code everything by themselves. File Share, File Search, Halo 4 Stats (via Waypoint), Theater, Forge, etc. They coded it themselves (with the exception of Forge, which was helped along by Certain Affinity).

It would be impossible for them to reach the lofty levels of Bungie’s content, with years of iteration, on their first game.

Complains… is rank 130… lol you people sadden me.

Why? Because he tried to have fun? Because he tried to enjoy the game as it is?

The fact that he’s a high rank doesn’t mean he can’t complain.

Well they’re fum might not be the same as your fun.

Im sure the Xbox can handle Campaign scoring and Spartan Ops without a live requirement to play solo.

Also having good playlists in the beginning while trying to make a lasting impression also helps

I enjoy the core gameplay of Halo 4, but it seems like 343 wrote down a list of things from past Halo that everyone loved and just scratched them of the list for Halo 4.

Missing gametypes, missing options in custom games, competitively matching players based on skill in playlists that are abundantly recreational/social, removing theatre from campaign and spartan ops. And the diverse infection mode we all loved has been utterly simplified and dulled down…
Flood cant carry weapons…really?

No scoring in Campaign or Spartan ops, playlists are completely spread thin and crippled the population from the beginning.

Playlists should be ranked and social with each section offering a FFA, Team Slayer, Team Objective, Big Team Battle and there own respective playlists such as action sack, infection, doubles, multi-team, ‘throwdown’ (competitive playlist) etc.

Also a competitive ranking system from the start would attract and keep tons of players that are dissatisfied and have left.

Halo 4 has plenty of great aspects don’t get me wrong, but it had so much more potential. Hopefully Halo 5 will be developed with these things in mind without forgeting anything that currently works.
