Ok just because of their backlash in Halo 5, it seems 343 has cut them out of the picture when multiple team members are actually important to halo in general. Spartan Buck (Halo 3: ODST) and Spartan Locke (Halo: Nightfall). Buck has been a fan favorite and he’s a well established character we can relate to. Locke, who was only hated for his role in Halo 5, is a cool character who has been in other Halo things. When Tanaka and Sanghelis linguist were pulled out of left field.

We don’t know (which goes for a lot of things in Infinite). However, I think it’s safe to assume they’re alive.

Osiris, dont really miss. Didnt necessarily hate any of them.

Buck is no longer with Osiris, he reformed Alpha Nine the crew you play in ODST. As for Osiris I think we will see them in the future.

“Read the Halo book 'Buck the c*** if you really want to know what happened to him! God this game is perfect and you guys aren’t real Halo fans because you don’t read every book!”
Have to genuinely explain to people what a bad idea it is to spread key parts of your story across multiple mediums and expect everyone to be on the same page. The game should have dealt with this.
Well if you liked Buck you coul always read Halo New Blood and Halo Bad Blood. The later picks up after Halo 5 and might have some small answers (and they are pretty good too :D)
One of Halo 5 biggest problems wre an abandunce of charakters. It is hard to tell a story in a game and give everyone time to develop if you have to do it for so many charakters. Think about it, you had Tanaka, Vale and Lock three new charackters completly new to the audience wich have to be established(yes Nightfall was his introduction, i think it was just a cool marketing move, it really didnt do alot for him as a charakter and had nothing to do with Halo 5). Then you have blue team, who also have to be established for every new player or players who dont know them because they didnt read (alot of) Halo Books with their backstory. Also you have Three story lines you have to follow and those are somewhat of a mess, The created Storyline, The Bring Chief Back Storyline and the Battle of Sunaion Story (Because we have to get the Airbiter here aswell because the cast was just to small)
I hope you are understanding what im getting at, the charakters didnt get the time they needed, the writing and dialoge was really flat and mostly boring. It just wasnt fair for any charakter in the game, it was just too much. And forcing them into Infinite, espacially with the story it was going for, would have made zero sense.
They had to thin the cast. I see no room for Osiris or Blue Team in this Story. they could get their spin off, their book or even tv series, in a game however you have to prioritise.
However I dont think they are gone. If they died we will hear that in a story dlc or book. If they lived and are on other Missions (wich I think is the case) We will also get those storys as a book or in some dlc kind.

Bucke left Osiris in a book. He’s now part of the Spartan 4 ODST team he had.
In one of the Audio logs they mention Locke being sent away on another mission.
I would bet money this will be a book detailing Osiris destroying the Warden Eternal. What other target could there be?
Look, it is what it is. I wouldn’t have had an issue with a game about the fight to survive Cortana playing Osiris. But that’s clearly a minority opinion and money talks here. Why take that risk to make the story work when you can just push Atriox?
