True fan here. Yea a lot of this stuff was disappointing. But they are working pretty fast to get fixes in. Happy the core gameplay is just spot on.
What pisses me off isn’t even that people are critical about the game, the problem I have is that all the real issues are being swept under the rug and people choose to complain about literally everything about the game, most of which have almost zero chance of actually addressed.
Like, melees in this game are horrible. I’ve watched tons of pro gameplay, have played tons of matches, I still have no clue how the system works and why melees don’t always trade and so forth. Yet we’re too busy whining about the store (which they won’t change significantly, because its F2P) and I just feel like its not going to lead to something greater.
Infinite is pretty simple, all they really need to do is add a bunch more content and it’ll be amazing. I don’t expect 343i to do drastic changes, I like Infinite at its core. I just want more stuffing with my turkey if you know what I mean.
All I’m hearing is " I’m giving up because they won’t listen to us".
The store need to go. Sorry. But that’s the fix. No one asked for it and no one asked for the game to be free to play. LITERALLY NO ONE
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is -Yoink!- loud for 343 to hear!”
I mean basically everything about it can improve even if they’re going to stick with the same general model, it’s one of the worst implementations of monetization in a game I’ve ever seen or heard of. And the way they built everything like challenges and playlists around it is so bad that it’s probably even losing them sales and hence not fulfilling its purpose.
Play MCC and tell me they couldn’t improve almost everything about this game except for its core gameplay.
The only option that would work for Halo game is a full paid game like Reach, day 1 all content, and maybe instead of DLC map packs, do a paid battlepass like Infinite is doing in terms of pricing, but make the battlepass work like it does in MCC in terms of challenges and progression, 1 point per tier. ZERO MICROTRANSACTIONS. I’m tired of that trash ruining good games.
And the One Liner of the Week Award goes to…
*writes a four paragraph essay complaining about other people complaining
Man, there’s so many issues with this game that they haven’t even addressed verbally. Nothing they have done is huge. The changes that have been made have honestly been too little to late.
Example: Slayer should’ve been there at launch, but wasn’t. Literally everyone complained. Should’ve been added within days, but took 4 weeks.
Ske7ch: Boohoo we can’t add Slayer it’s still months out it’s so hard.
Literally adds Slayer to the game 3 days later after people ridicule them (deservedly so).
Idk man you can call it -Yoink!- and moaning, but I’m just tired of 343 trying to bend us over and then lying about it. Game’s fun, the people that actually worked on it did a fantastic job. The people in charge though? They suck.
The biggest issue with Halo 5 was its story and gameplay.
Yeah they’re just going to change the game from free to play. Good luck with that
How dare we be annoyed about a predatory and overly restrictive customisation and monetisation system. Especially since we were promised that we would be allowed to unlock everything via the battle pass. Shame on us.

Well, yes. Just…not over this game.
…don’t tell anyone.
I am not giving up, I am looking at the game for its positives instead of its negatives. There are more positive things about this game and I am happy to play it.
lol I suppose this is to be expected in these times
They’ll sooner change the name before they change it being Free to Play.
This is my point. You are wasting your time effort thought processes if you seriously believe they’ll go back.
Interesting, doing what they could have simply done before the game was released. The only reason it was down is because of the backlash. Who are you trying to fool here, new players and the naive people that play this game that don’t know any better? but let’s forget what 343/Microsoft turned this game into becase cash-grabbing instead of making a decent game is more important right?
Never mind that this game was set up to manipulate the player base knowing they could have made those changes anytime they wanted to and we should be impressed with that, that it took the community to be pissed off at them just to get them to do somewhat right by the player base in the first place?
What are you smoking because I sure as hell don’t want any of that?
News flash, first impressions actually matter bud, and the first impressing is that 343 stooped so dame low that they took a huge dump on their player base for the sake of a buck. Yeah, let’s be proud that they turn this entire game into a cash shop and are looking for ways to manipulate their player base. Just throw a bone here and there and little Timmy, which is you, by the way, will be happy, this way we can say “see, we’re listening” and keep that cash shop flowing. Awesome!
If fans can articulate an intelligent argument with concerns for the game, they should be heard. Right now the gameplay and fun is the only incentive to continue playing, If you have ever thought about player incentive and what keeps a player base invested, it needs to be more than that. Players need to have a sense of reward from how they play. They also need to be able to choose exactly how they want to play. Halo is utterly failing on these two fronts and in the combination of the two, they cannot earn customization the way they should be able to and they can hardly choose their customization options by the bad design of it all. (colors being locked in coatings instead of color choice armor apart of kits and cores) Right now, no player can choose how they want to play, that’s detrimental to the life of this game, and after they unlock something, they cannot chose how they want to customize their Spartan they way they want to and have done in the past. There is no reward system that is able to last and this is also detrimental to the life of the game. Good luck sustaining the player base 343. The people who don’t care about these things won’t be playing long anyways. Those who do care about these things will want to be playing for years, but they won’t have the incentive to.
Plus, it’s quickly losing points in the fun column as people realize the servers are held together with tape and chewing gum. I wonder how long it’s going to take for them to work out the netcode issues.
Yeah that’s been super frustrating. We sat in BTB queues getting connection errors for ten minutes straight before connecting. And even then sometimes one of us would still get kicked. We’d get maybe one or two games before playing connection roulette again. This was like yesterday lol
Just because there are good changes being made doesn’t mean we should ever stop talking about changes that still need to come.
Should community members be demanding the changes happen right this second? No. That’s not how this works. Infinite will get better in time, I fully expect Season 2 to bring with it a whole host of changes to the structure of monetization. But I don’t think anyone should expect it to happen before then. I fully expect vehicles to be retuned across the board eventually, but it won’t happen in a magical update pulled out of thin air today.
What we CAN see updated week after week right now are the little things. Playlists being added, game modes getting small tweaks, challenges getting changed bit by bit.
We should be looking at the small quality of life changes that can happen now, 343 knows about most of the issues that will require long-term solutions and are probably already hard at work designing the larger, sweeping updates we will get to those eventually.
