Is everyone still peeing their pants over this game?

I want to start this by saying at first I was gung-ho about changing this game, but i have since changed my stance.

No matter what 343 does at this point “halo fans” will piss and moan about it. Full stop.
I am impressed that 343 has made as big of changes as they have in only a month. They added playlists people begged for, they bandaged the progression system while they work on a new one. In a month. For a game this size, that’s big. And yet it seems like no one cares?

“Oh but the store and battle pass and they just want our money” Is 343 holding you at gunpoint forcing you to buy the armor set that makes you look prettier in front of all your friends? no they aren’t. Does it suck that you can’t customize your spartan for free, yes it does. But I just don’t think all these throwing of tantrums and harassments is going to change that. 343 has made it clear that this is a free to play game with free to play unlocking mechanics. And honestly other than maybe the battlepass being a little lacking, they aren’t too far off from other F2P games.

So it comes down to, are all of the things about this game making “true halo fans” mad, keeping you from having fun? I can say that when I look at this game for what it did wrong, then yes it definitely affects my mood when playing. However, I chose to look at this game for what it did right, and it did a lot of things right and I am having a blast. Especially with friends. I haven’t played a Halo game like this since Halo: Reach. They just didn’t hook me like Infinite has. I do think there are still things that need to be adjusted, but for now this is my last post on the forum. I’m sick and its from the toxic waste that resides here.

With all being said, by all means I agree with people pointing out bugs and such. and actually using the forum for its intended purpose.

This game… Halo Reach + Halo 3. That’s my perspective. From Campaign and from Multiplayer. The main complaints I see are “This armor set is too expensive. Let me decorate my Space Power Ranger” or “This challenge is too hard, let me beat this challenge so I can decorate my Space Power Ranger.” With the occasional “Hey why is this gun so weak” or “This Hammer is too inconsistent” Which are genuine feedback that I agree with. The majority of this community seems to have moved on, with some “Keyboard Warriors” wetting themselves of the game. Perhaps what this community needs is a time-out. Or a stern talking-to. How else do you deal with a baby? FOOD. 343 could buy everyone McDonalds or something

I think that’s the norm these days, you can release anything and some will troll till no end, its almost like they get paid to berate a title. A lot of the complainers that I notice usually have one or two posts.

I think everyone can agree that the game is lacking content. However what is there is fantastic, literally one of the best experiences we’ve had in a while, and with new content being added, it has no where to go but up.

People are mad for a few reasons:

  1. The game should have had all missing content on day 1. And absolutely it should have. However would we have preferred everything in half baked on day 1, or everything come in waves but the polish is there.

  2. The game was made by 343 and not Bungie. They’ll hate anything 343 does, and they’ll never be happy with the franchise again

You sir seem quite obtuse.

Where does BTB literally not working even though it was only one of FOUR playlists available for several weeks? 4 playlists (now more) and the servers still cannot handle it.

Please enlighten me with your brilliant analysis!

I’ve played this game every day haven’t had a single issue with the servers.

Wasn’t it down for like a day? Issues with servers usually tend to happen in any GaaS title.

Will do, thanks.

People complain because this stuff should have been in the game DAY 1.

This isn’t them being kind and giving us stuff. This is them adding features that EVERY halo game has.

They don’t get a pass on that.

It’s been more like 5 days. Completely unplayable (especially if you party up).

Halo 3 was bigger than this launch and it was smooth. Halo 5 had issues and they did not learn from it. The desync issue people are experiencing has also lasted a few weeks now as well.

Just because you don’t have issues does not mean you can over simplify and straw man legitimate criticisms.

I don’t think Halo 3 was bigger than Infinite at launch lmfao.

I literally explained my issues in the post above. Read it again

Don’t bother with people here. They’ll say the game is amazing and say you’re whining when you point out legitimate issues like not being able to connect, constant crashes and broken hitreg.

These are the same people that will be on the forums in 3 months time wondering why it’s so hard to find a match and asking why is the playerbase so low. The exact same happened to the MCC. History is doomed to repeat itself.

Halo has been the most played game on Xbox 4 weeks in a row. Sorry bud if you’re hoping this game fails, not even MCC and Halo 5 had these numbers.

If you don’t enjoy the game there are many other great games out there to play

Halo is the most played game on it’s opening weeks on the console it’s exclusive on? Wow that’s such an impressive feat! You do know every other Halo was the same, right? The only thing Infinite does different is that only half the features shipped with the game and it’s the only one in the franchise that crashes on launch.

In all seriousness we don’t have the actual numbers from Microsoft. They can claim it’s most played, but if they don’t show the numbers that data is dubious at best. On the other hand, the twitch numbers and steam numbers are painting a grim, but accurate picture.

Bold of you to assume I don’t enjoy the game. I’m on the forums trying to point out legitimate and game breaking issues while you’re out here blowing smoke up 343’s bottom. If 343 doesn’t fix the broken aspects of the game, it will die. This is a fact, and no matter how you feel about the game, if it doesn’t improve it will die.

See you in 3 months when you’re here wondering why only 30k players remain.

I enjoy playing this game just because it’s Halo and I’m a fan. It doesn’t mean I can ignore the issues with the game, which are as follows:

The challenge system was implemented wrong; it’s designed around the battlepass progression rather than accomplishing challenge(s) which should take approximately one week. It’s a bunch of daily challenges to grind for a reward that isn’t really worth it most of the time.

Battlepass was poorly implemented, too slow to level up at the beginning, now it just lacks content and is locked around gametype specific challenges which are randomized.

Playlists are crummy, Slayer types are now in the game but should have been there to begin with.

Server, latency, crashing; it’s widespread. Just because it doesn’t happen to you in particular does not mean it doesn’t happen. It’s there, it’s bad. There’s poor anticheat, bad framework for cross play, hitreg issues, etc.

All of these issues, except crashing, are tied into customization and the monetization of it. People play games to win; an extension of that is to earn gear and be rewarded because people like gratification. That’s just a fact of the matter. People also play games for fun, but you cannot ignore rewards are an integral part of the process.

Until people earn gear consistently or have a way to do it within the game that isn’t frustrating like the current system, expect a forecast of golden showers for a while.

Why are some people so committed to getting people to shut up about any and all criticism of the game, and why is their only argument “I can just ignore all of the issues so you should too”?

It really is baffling. People “whining” are trying to improve the game for everyone. These people trying to shut criticism down are just hurting the game.

Nothing against anything else you have said but Twitch means nothing towards how many people are playing any game.

I would say it means something, while not being a 1:1 ratio. The more people play a game, the more people interact with the game’s community. The opposite is also true. Luigi’s Mansion for the GameCube is pretty far down there, it’s a safe bet to assume that not many people actively play it either.

Dude we were able to have this in MCC and reach FOR FREE, the armor sets in those games were NOT 20 freaking USD, so yeah the whole halo community is pissed, and we shall moan about it!
