Is Easy/Normal/Heroic/Legendary in lots of games?

I’m currently playing Lord of the Rings: War in the North, and the difficulties are Easy, Normal, Heroic and Legendary. Now I immediately recognised these from Halo, but I was wondering, is Halo the only other game series to use these, or are there other games such as WITN that use them as difficulty levels, making them a sort of industry standard?

Most games are set with those descriptions for difficulty, but Legendary (if the game has a 4th difficulty setting) is usually named whatever they want to name. Hardcore, murder, bloody, etc…

Yeah, most games with a 4th difficulty normally have their own name, but even then you start running out of names.

Thanks, easy and normal definitely aren’t restricted to one game but I guess Snowblind couldn’t come up with anything new for the harder difficulties.

Yeah Easy, Normal and Hard are the most common ones. Most games usually have a different 4th one. Some just call it Very Hard sometimes.

Resident Evil has Professional, DMC has Dante Must Die, Dead Space has Zealot and Hardcore, and my personal favourite is the hardest difficulty in Vanquish which is called “God Hard”.

I can’t recall ever seeing Legendary or Heroic used before though. Until now that is.

I’m sure I’ve seen a few other games with similar difficulty levels.

I think the craziest settings iv’e see are either in Devil may cry or Ninja Gaiden.

I know on some games you have to unlock the difficulty. Like on Bayonetta, you have to play Normal difficulty to unlock Hard and play Hard to unlcok Infinite Climax. LOL.

I really love Bayonetta, probably one of my favourites games! :slight_smile:

I meant to say i, but alright i can rent it out and see if i like it. Ninja gaiden was also my favorite slasher. Intense on the Nes and Snes!
