Is D-sync actually a problem for you?

The reason I ask this is because I don’t see it as an issue. I don’t experience it personally and I don’t know why.

I’m presuming there may be a ISP, server locality or player count aspect to all of this…so here is a poll so we can see if it actually IS and issue.

It affects certain players. I’m lucky to not have encountered it, but then again I didn’t really spend too much time in matchmaking except only to level up my BP.

Go look up “2 minutes of desync” from Arrrash tv. It will show you all you need to know about it.

Nice video. More people should see it

Every single player in this game experiences desync. To say otherwise is a lie. Most just don’t understand what to look for and most examples provided on film are extreme.

This is a extreme example. Also that guy is experiencing rubberbanding which is a bit different then desync. The video I’m linking is a tad bit less extreme and what most of us see daily.

I tend to notice desync or instances where what happens in game server side isnt what is currently happening in front of me a lot more on my machine since I have it directly connected to my 1gb internet and no other game(even with greater ping)((HELL MCC even)) ever feels as inconsistent with shot registration or bullets still hitting me after I passed like 2 feet of wall.

Really makes me not even want to try and take ranked seriously

I didn’t until about 2 weeks ago… now it is every game for at least four or five battles which is enough to not take it seriously. I enjoy the game and will still play and looking forward to if and when they fix it…I didn’t even try to pick up the sniper today which I love playing with because of the significance of de sync today

You know what’s the biggest problem with desync? That you think you experience it. Got killed in a wonky way? desync. Can’t kill the opponent? desync. Nade not connecting? desync.

At this point it’s almost irrelevant if they ever fix it… by although acknowledging it but then going completely radio silent about, 343 executes the most damaging strategy how to deal with it. They have no clue how to fix it but they just won’t lose another word about it.

Btw, to prevent this stuff, developers usually tely on closed and early beta testing. Something infinite didn’t have…

it’s nice to see videos of it happening to others, because it’s tiring feeling gaslighted by the game.

I’m very lucky that it’s not a huge problem from my end.

I get the occasional head shot that doesn’t seem to register (could be lag)… and then some obvious desync every 3rd or 4th game; an ineffective grenade on an opponent who is already sans shields, or a hammer strike that does nothing.

I don’t know what minimises it from my end. My set up? The way I play? Luck?

And of course… I don’t really have any idea if I’m desyncing vs my opponents. How many times has desync actually saved me?

But, regardless, it’s a real problem. And it’s frustrating that 343 haven’t been able to fix it yet. Even more frustrating that they may actually be making it worse.

But what is the most frustrating is that we don’t have any community engagement. We should be knee deep in the problem with 343. What is the issue. Why is it happening. What’s the time frame for a fix?

80% of my matches, their Automagic Server selector connects me to a far far away Server in Europe, so that I have 250+ ms ping times, rather than the local Seattle server that gives me < 30 ms ping times. I’m in Alberta Canada and played late afternoon to early evening PDT, so there should be players available on Seattle.

So at 4 fps update ticks, I can’t really tell if there is or isn’t desynch - because the game is a fornicating slide show.

Is desync the current term for network lag?

Assuming desync covers the melee phasing, that still happens pretty much on a game-to-game basis. Unpredictable lunge, phase through (or “pop-out of”) players at close range, etc remain a constant, frustrating issue.

Also, 343 confirmed on Reddit that they are not actively working on networking/desync anymore. That team has been re-allocated. So… don’t expect any fixes.

Well then the game is done for me forever. I won’t even waste the time checking on the forums anymore.

What a fiasco Halo Infinite is. Management should be ashamed.

In one world : YES!
It makes the game unplayable.
It gets worse after every update.

They removed player collision your welcome. That’s a feature, pay us money. Precision shooters do require precision, surprising I know. 343i learned the hard way, and still arent even trying to fix it. big rip for the franchise that brought me into fps.

It either cripples the game for me, or works in my favour.

I find that the desync is worse in a 20ms game for me, than a 180ms.

There’s times i should 100% die and barely get a scratch, and times i should kill them 3 times over and they barely get a scratch.

It’s beyond frustrating and makes the game unenjoyable.

I would say a rough estimate, if i play 20 games in a night, 90% of them i would experience desync, whether working against me or for me.

Also I find the stat’s post game dont marry up with how the game played.

For example, i will lose every one on one battle in a game, and be shouting at the TV that i didnt miss a shot but still lost the battle. And then the post game lobby will show i went say 10-13kd slayer with 61% accuracy and 8 headshots.

It makes no sense

Experienced it all. Rubberbanding, dying around corners, shots landing but doing no damage, skewers in players but no damage. It is annoying.

It’s always hard to classify it as either desync, lag or rubberbanding but the fact is that a lot of spooky stuff happens in multiplayer, which is not the case in other games.
For me the biggest example is playing a custom game opposed to matchmaking. Everything is buttery smooth and consistent there.
