Is Chips Dubbo a Reincarnation of Jesus Christ?

Is it just me, or is Chips Dubbo more than just the human we know?

Allow me to share.

Chips Dubbo is an Australian Private of the UNSC, blah, blah, blah. Normal, right? Just wait. Chips Dubbo is the first Marine we see in-game (he’s the one that escorts you to Captain Keyes). We see him a few more times until the mission, “The Truth and Reconciliation”, where he is a part of the Marine crew that help John-117, the Master Chief, storm the Covenant ship. Once they reach the control center of the ship, the Marines stay, as John-117 continues through, until he finds Captain Keyes. Upon returning to the control center, we see all of the Marines, including Dubbo, dead on the raised platform, most likely killed by the camouflaged Elites in the room. We continue fighting through until we reach a Spirit dropship, which Captain Keyes takes control of. After Captain Keyes splatters two hunters… we hear Dubbo saying “Nice One, Sir!”

There are only two explanations for this. Either Dubbo is one of the three Marines that we saved along with Keyes (which is impossible, since he was in the control center), or Dubbo somehow came back to life and appeared on the Spirit. Either explanation is evidence that he is a reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

That’s just the beginning.

Skip ahead to the end of Halo: Combat Evolved. The Master Chief and Cortana blow up the Pillar of Autumn, which destroys Installation 04 (Alpha Halo). The only survivors (John, Cortana, unconscious Linda, Johnson, Polaski, Haverson, and the ODST whose name I forgot) meet up in space, hijack a Covenant ship (the Ascendant Justice), and use it to leave the area through the use of slipspace. It’s more than likely that Dubbo died on Alpha Halo. The only way he could have escaped Alpha Halo before its destruction is by either a Pelican or a Spirit, neither of which are capable of slipspace travel (the only way it would be possible to escape would be through the use of a Covenant ship). However, we see Dubbo again during the mission “Outskirts”, in Halo 2, where he is in the Pelican that John is in, which crashes after it’s shot by a Scarab. He fights with John through the rest of the mission. Wait, what? Didn’t he die on Alpha Halo? Unless he single-handedly hijacked a Covenant ship, and was somehow able to figure out how to pilot the whole thing and bring it back to Earth through slipspace, he was reborn. He is a reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

After the mission “Metropolis”, Dubbo boards the UNSC In Amber Clad, which then goes through slipspace and discovers Installation 05 (Delta Halo). However, he is also present on Earth after the In Amber Clad leaves Earth, in Halo 3: ODST, during the mission “Uplift Reservve”. This means that he is in two places at once… only a reincarnation of Jesus Christ can do that.

Dubbo is also present during the Battle of High Charity. He is one of the five marines saved during the mission “Gravemind”. Those Marines are never picked up by UNSC forces, although we somehow see Dubbo again in “Crow’s Nest”, in Halo 3.

That’s pretty much it for the evidence. Dubbo fights with John throughout the rest of Halo 3, and that’s the last we see of him.

Will we see Chips Dubbo again? Is Chips Dubbo invincible? Is Chips Dubbo a reincarnation of Jesus Christ? I think he is. Do you?

I was going to say, Stacker has been in every Halo game despite dying on the Halo ring, yet we see him on Outskirts and later in ODST but he also appears on Delta Halo, then on Rat’s Nest and much of the Halo 3 story, and then over the COMs on Reclaimer. Stacker and Dubbo are the hands of god, and the true heroes of Halo. They are next in line for the Mantle, not humanity.

I like this thread, though to clear up any confusion anyone might have, I’ll just say: the name "Chips “Dubbo” is an honorary name Bungie gave to any marine NPC using the famed Aussie voice, so that they could properly recognize the voice actor in the games’ credits. He is not a “real” character, despite how devine he may be.

Game. Play. Obviously, his death isn’t scripted, just like Johnson’s or Stacker’s weren’t. That, or Bungie didn’t want to waste too much money on individual actors to fill a very trivial, non-important role. So, they re-used much of the same voices. When they noticed how popular the voice was, they brought it back as a running gag. There really does not need to be an explanation, or some sort of Divine Intervention involved. It is a game after-all.

My explanation for this phenomenon is simply that Chips Dubbo is a cyborg created by 05-032 Mendicant Bias so that the construct could observe and collect data from Master Chief’s field operations, as well as directly spying on 117 when he comes to the Lesser Ark - evidenced by the dialogue of the Halo 3 Terminals. Upon death, the Dubbo-bot can remain active after a system reboot (taking a few hours in the form of a deceased-like state), meaning that he can continue with further missions while remaining KIA on many of the UNSC’s records.

As the cyborg has been implemented with much internal, ancient Forerunner tech, it has the ability to split its form while remaining at near full capacity in all its duplicates. Unlike the hologram armour ability in Halo: Reach, the Dubbo-bot fragments its conscious and assigns specific parts to specific duplicates - meaning the level of efficiency differs in each. For example, some duplicates may experience behavioural or sensori-motor glitches if too many parts of the cyborg’s collective conscious has been fragmented at once (ref. Marine AI running into walls / bad driving skills / bad language - evidenced with the activation of the ‘IWHBYD’ skull).

After a mission has been completed, the collective reforms itself into one being once again. As Chips Dubbo was no longer needed by Mendicant Bias; who could observe the Chief remotely; during his time on the Ark, he remained as one form. There is a lot of controversy as to how “The Dubbs” was able to get off the Ark, but oftentimes comes down to one of two possibilities:-

1) He was waiting on the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn after the Flood outbreak, having been with the only other person who was immune to Flood infection - Sgt. Johnson. Acting as the backup crew when Johnson got zapped by 343, Chips Dubbo put the ship in a floating state and proceeded to hide in the ship’s armoury. When the ship split in two after crossing the portal, he was forced to fragment into two parts. One of the duplicates was eventually salvaged from the wreckage of the front half of the ship weeks after it crashed. The other duplicate was left floating in orbit outside of Reqiuem’s effective gravity corridor, meaning he did not make it inside the Installation. He then proceeded to board, take over and pilot a CCS-class Covenant Battlecruiser that was reinforcing the planet six months after the events of Halo 4, taking it back to Earth. After complications with Dubbo’s debriefing with both the UNSC Home Fleet and ONI, he was eventually secretly rejoined with his other fragment and re-enlisted into the UNSC military. Through all his achievements, he still maintained the rank of Private First Class.

2) He was sent on a mission by the remains of Mendicant Bias on the Ark to find and retrieve the other parts of the construct. Dubbo recovered the fragment inside the Forerunner Dreadnought that was left unusable on the Installation at the end of Halo 3, and used a Forerunner War Sphinx hidden under the sands of the Ark to hunt down the last fragments. Operated by Mendicant Bias until his mental and physical form were completed, the War Sphinx made several visits to the Milky Way Galaxy, but always returning to the Ark. Dubbo soon achieved ‘transcendence’ in his new digital Promethean state, brought about by the Didact’s Composer, during his exploration of Installation 03 for more fragments of MB. The War Sphinx returned to the Ark many months later and Mendicant managed to recombine himself to create the construct that he once was - on his own. Chips Dubbo had been taken by the Didact for use in his armies against Humanity as a Promethean Knight. Through all his achievements, he still recieved the lowest rank a Promethean can get.

In summary, I believe I have given a full-depth as to why and how Chips Dubbo was able to both be present at multiple concurrent encounters, and survive catastrophic damage. This means that he does not equate to (or is) the reincarnation of Jesus Christ, instead of dying for our sins Chips is a ‘Monument To All Our Sins’.

Honestly I’m more of a Sergeant Stacker guy (I absolutely squealed in joy when I heard him over the COMs in Reclaimer). Dubbo’s pretty overrated IMO :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe in chips. Reason I believe in him is during h2 campaign(XBL was down) I was driving a tank on delta halo with one marine then all of a sudden the one marine I had changed voices into chips.

Dubbo has been a standar Marine and an ODST throughout the games, but Sergeant Stacker has beaten him by being a Marine, an Army Trooper, an ODST and a NMPD Sergeant in ODST.
