Is Chief really ok with Locke?

Seeing as how Locke had a mission that Chief REALLY was not ok with seeing his reaction to Locke saying “Like hell she is”. Chief might also be pissed at Locke by not bringing back Cortana since he just saw her one campanion that died in front of his eyes in h4. So I gotta ask, do you think that Locke and Chief are “friends”?

Seeing as how the Chief was turned into a character with the emotional range of a brick in Halo 5, I doubt that he feels anything towards Locke. After all, according to Halo 5, Spartan-IIs are mindless machines, right?

I wouldn’t say they are friends but there is some mutual respect for each other both being Spartans. That is probably the only reason Chief didn’t push Locke off that rock into the lava after he locked his armor up.

I wouldn’t say they’re friends, but I’m sure they would be willing to have a beer together.

Chief did say in his second mission that Osiris are Spartans so there is some respect, then Osiris saved him and turned out to be right at the end so there is no reason for Chief to dislike any of Osiris.

What on earth gave you that vibe?

I know that they’re not mindless machines, but in Halo 5 they are portrayed as such. The members of Blue Team have no personality, and in contrast to Halo 4, and even Halo 3, the Chief is just as bad. Not once does John ever show any bit of sadness about Cortana being dead (though we only saw him for half a mission under that impression), and the rest of Blue Team were shadows of how they were in the books.

That being said, I don’t think Chief holds anything against Locke. I think he understands that Locke was just following orders, and now that they’re on the same team and have similar goals, they get along well. After all, this is the man that, after 30 years of fighting Covenant, teamed up with the Arbiter and the Elites without any complaints and even became friends with the Arbiter, as much as they can be friends.

Hes okay. They already put their differences besides and have one goal to take down Cortana.

Chief was able to become ‘friends’ with the elite who destroyed his only real home and whose forces are responsible for killing pretty much every Spartan-II. I’m pretty sure he’s professional enough to work alongside someone he had a brawl with.

Chief doesn’t kill randomly people off-hand. There’s a huge difference from running off to find Cortana, and running off to find Cortana and actively killing UNSC personnel. Chief’s mission wasn’t to abandon the UNSC, it was to bring cortana home and deal with whatever threat she was alluding to when she contacted him (which ended up being herself).
