Is chat working at all right now?

Whenever I try to talk in a game or lobby no one responds. That could be because they’re either in a party, or don’t have a mic but after so many games that didn’t seem possible. So to test it, I jumped out of a party with a friend into the public lobby and we couldn’t hear each other or anyone else. I’ve changed my audio settings to unmuted, and made chat available to both teammates and everyone and neither works. So what’s the deal? Am I doing something wrong?

same i was wondering this aswell can someone clarify this for us

No and it never has in MCC. You must do the following…

  1. Confirm your mic is flashing when you are talking into the mic. (you’d be surprised how often it stops working, for no reason, this can also happen in the middle of a game)
  2. Remove and Reconnect your mic to fix this problem. Even if it does show the flash, other player still might not hear you. Might have to repeat this a few times. But if the other people have the same problem, maybe they can’t even tel you they can or cannot hear you.
3.Taking into account the last two things, if you want more people to talk for in game, do what I do. When the lobbies start, first confirm your mic is actively flashing and say. “ANYONE HAVE A MIC? IF YOU DO AND ARE TALKING, UNPLUG AND RECONNECT BECAUSE I DON’T HEAR ANYONE” <— that normally gets 1-2 mics to start working.
  3. If you play CE, get used to this as it happens almost every game. The mic seems to go dead every time the game ends, CE is hands down worse than all other gametypes for this problem.

I really don’t think it’s because so many people don’t have mics, it’s because how broken the coms are in this game. They are so bad, it almost forces people playing in groups of 2 to make their own party chat.

This alone is a huge failure for the MCC. Halo has always been about finding people online to play with and they some how took match making and turned it almost into a campaign environment. Let’s be honest, I hate campaign for that very reason of seemingly playing all by myself.

That’s honestly just unacceptable. I’ve never heard of an online game having issues with such basic functionality. Halo used to have such an amazing social community, too.

Yeah chats been working for me just fine… As for everyone else, I dunno… Make sure you set rules on your router to port forward all the XB1 ports as well as 16,000 (BOTH TCP AND UDP). Port 16,000 is a port that improves party chats when it is forwarded (I understand that party chat is not what’s being discussed in this thread but that could be part of why my game chat works so well)

^^Sin^^ are you using the standard headset that came with the X1?
Myself it’s all the aftermarket attachments as well because everyone I know uses some form of aftermarket chat module.

I have all ports open for a test and it didn’t change anything the problem is within MCC. There is no way, 10 buddies all require to reconnect their chat connector randomly for no reason to talk between one another. In the last few days since the patch, now that parties works for once, I’ve reconnect my chat module at least 100 times. “IT’S GETTING OLD QUICKLY!”
Not t mention, I am going to wear it out and it’ll stop working all together.

When you join a lobby ask everyone to remove and reconnect their mics, I almost guarantee, someone will start talking within 10-20 seconds. Their first comments will be “no one has a mic” That’s generally not the case, it’s the chat system within MCC.

I don’t think this problem persists only in MCC. Titanfall and basic party chat have also failed pretty hard for me.
