I think one of the main mindsets for Reach and now Halo 4 is “Oh, let’s see how much farther we can additionally push this game. Let’s change things up and add even more things.” Is there a point where Halo can be changed too much?
I can say from what I’ve seen in the new Halo 4 video up that I think things are maybe changing too radicly. I’m very disappointed in not only the new Spartan 4 look, but also a bit with Master Chief. It seems like, starting with Reach, they’ve just kept trying to “bulk up” the way the spartans look. In the trailer, the Spartans have now deviated so much from what they used to be they don’t even look human. The halo 3 model of the spartans looked best. They moved and looked human. The H4 spartans look like robots. It’s not even a Halo feel. I feel like this is largely in part to the massive amount of details they’ve added to the spartans. Just look at the comparision to the H3 Master Chief and the H4 one. The difference is more details and “extra” stuff that’s added to the armor. My point is that “more” is not always best.
A couple other side notes I have include:
1)The visuals of the game. The spartans looked a bit too shiny (also giving a more robotic look). Also I’m not sure what the graphics engine is going to look like. I certainly didn’t like Reach’s. The whole game looked more like a cartoon. My favorite grpahics have been from H3, especially the water, which alot of people have pointed out. I really just don’t want H4 to look “cartoony.” At least don’t use Reach’s engine.

The BR. Thank God it’s back. I don’t know for sure what to think about the new design, and the square sight, but I think I could deal with it. 343 should keep in mind however that the BR as well as other spartan weapons are supposed to be human. So I hope they are able to tie in human aspects in the human weapons rather than making them look too industrial and robotic. I can also add that the reticle looks way huge. It could be slimmed down.

I’m good friends with a couple of big community members, mainly Axilo and Mcgee, and Mcgee has told me the game looks too much like Crysis 2. I’ve never played it but just tell me what your thoughts are on that. I don’t like the idea too much though about H4 being a copy of an already made game.
Thanks, I wasn’t trying to rant here, but I just wanted to lay out all my thoughts so far. Please leave your feedback.
