Is campaign crossplay a thought or in the works?

I have a friend who is just getting into halo on PC and I was wondering if crossplay campaign is in the works or even possible with the net code. Would love to do some runs with them to show them some easter eggs and out of bounds stuff

I believe some devs at 343i calculated it would take 6-12 months per game to update the net code in order to have cross play feasible, which would also need to be thoroughly tested in order for nothing to break. So, while it is probably is possible, I doubt 343i would want to dedicate the time and resources on a very small portion of the player base.

I believe campaign crossplay was in the works at one point in time but I’m almost certain it’s kind of been called off due to the amount of time it would take to actually implement it properly.

Thanks I didn’t relise it was the netcode caused crossplay issues I heard that the bad netcode would take that long to fix but didnt relise it was connected to the crossplay. That feels bad but at least matchmaking is crossplay so I can play with my friend there
