I was playing my 10 provisional matches in arena for free-for-all and i got smashed like 5 times and played pretty poorly. After my 10th i came last and got Onyx. So is being this rank even an achievement.

I don’t think they made really hard multiplayer achievements. Fortunately
I was wondering the same thing. I was dominating the scoreboard by I only won 2 or 3 of my first 10 games and was put into platinum. I honestly don’t think the ranking system works 100%.
I think all the ranks will be reset soon so that there’s accurate placement? well that’s what some people have been saying.
Yeah ranking seems pretty broken at the moment some horrible people are being put into onyx etc and good players being placed in gold seems pretty random. As you can play in a party and whoever plays worst can get into a higher division than the players that were carrying them so meh. Plus I haven’t actually seen anyone yet ranked silver or bronze? I also haven’t seen a gold but people on here say they have been placed their.
I got Highly ranked on swat for playing 10 games I got onyx but I was playing very poor I got 2 wins and was struggling to break even so I would expect them to make something happen like a reset hen the game calms down abit in a week or two

I think the your first 10 placement games do take into account your own personal performance. After that it’s purely on win/loss

Bronze - Silver - Gold - Plat - Diamond - Onyx - Champion

OP’s not referring to Achievements, they’re referring to it being an achievement to reach Onyx when they admit their own performance was lacklustre.
It matters to the players that want it… That’s all that matters 
I wonder how long it will take for them to fix this up. Even if I’m onyx it doesn’t really feel good because i played crap
The only ranking related thing I’ve seen we that it was saying I had a K/D of like 6 yesterday on the game but on waypoint it was really 1.4

He meant as in a personal achievement for getting to Onyx rank
Given that they will be reset not really
