Is Anyone Talking About Halo Infinite's Vehicle Physics?

When I first tried the closed beta for Infinite, vehicle handling felt pretty bad which disappointed me. After a little more time and looking around to see other people’s thoughts on the current state of vehicles in Infinite, I’m really surprised to see a lack of discussion on it so I’d like to share my thoughts.
I play on KB/M (told it feels fine on controller) and handling just feels so bad. So clunky. Acceleration and deceleration are way too fast, vehicles feel so snappy, and way too tight. Especially the warthog and mongoose. (and did the Banshee lose Banshee maneuvers?). I had a lot of fun with Halo 5’s vehicles (although Reach’s will always be best)
I’m sure that the grappling hook changes the dynamic of the vehicle sandbox but still hope the vehicles can be polished up.

I’ve played with both and its a little better on controller, but still, the ground vehicles unfortunately feel very slippery and floaty. It’s such a shame because they really nailed the looks and sounds of the Warthog and the Chopper, but they feel like they’re filled with more buoyant gasses than a Huragok.

You can also hold brake indefinitely to be even more slippery. It doesn’t slow you at all. It actually feels faster with brake held down. :upside_down_face:

That part is intentional I think; the E-brake was always used for the characteristic “fishtail” movements of the Warthog.

The parts that especially bother me with the "slippery"ness in Infinite is the overall lack of friction with the geometry of the map. Like the warthog is covered in lubricant on all sides. They call it “The Lube Hog”. And combined with the off buoyancy it just makes it feel really cartoonish.

In Reach you could feel the suspension on the warthog. Made jumps so much fun. But I feel nothing in infinite…

Yes. There are a few threads out there that have discussions about it. They just get quickly buried by the cosmetic and monetization complaints.

The vehicles are weird. They lack a “grip” to the ground. I used to think the banshee was garbage, but I have seen people use it so it probably just takes a lot more practice. Don’t get me started on the chopper with how it can get sent rocketing across the map because of some odd physics glitch in its boost.

On controller there is an option to use both thumbsticks to steer. I enabled that and the hog feels a bit more responsive, but is still super slippery.

Yes, there have been posts, but there are just too many other Threads around here

I still think Vehicles (especially Warthog) feel too lightweight. I already saw a Hog on top of a standing Spartan :woman_shrugging:
