Is Anyone Else Worried About Halo 4?

I am worried about several things:

-Beta- I hear rumours that H4 is going to be one of the release games for the next Xbox, this would make a lot of sense as it definitely seems 343 are on a really strict time schedule. A beta allows players to give the developer feedback on how the game plays and allows a lot of bugs to be found before the game ships. It also means players can try the online game before buying it.

So 343 why are you not releasing a beta? Are you cutting corners to save time and/or Are you worried people won’t like it?

-Armour Abilities-
It appears at least some of the AA’s are going to make a return in H4, in the videos released thus far Sprint seems to be default in all playlists and perhaps some sort of thruster pack. I dearly hope that hologram/camo/armour lock will not be returning as they do not promote more skillful play.

Personally I would prefer the game with no default AA’s but at the very most I would want Sprint and some sort of jetpack, with the jetpack being either pick up only or specific to certain maps.

-Perks- 343 are planning to allow players to change there Spartans in ways that aren’t purely cosmetic and they have directly compared what they are planning to introduce to the COD perk system. Obviously I doubt they will be as powerful as some of the COD perks in certain situations.

I just don’t see how perks will fit into the game because Halo has always been a game where in the game everyone is on a equal footing in a game, and the ability to select different equipment/perks doesn’t promote an equal battlefield. I think if they moved the credit system to Call of Duty that would be a much better move.

-Halo CEA- They re-textured just 6 of Halo CE’s maps and then used the halo reach engine to play the multiplayer online. Even so I liked how CEA played but I couldn’t help but feel 343 could have done a lot more on the multiplayer and it felt nothing like Halo CE.

I really hope 343 actually change the engine considerably from halo reach so it is more fast paced and rewards more skillful play.

Summary of what I want to see in H4
-Trueskill ranking system (Halo 2/Halo 3)
-Faster Movement/Higher Jump
-3/4 Shot kill with BR/Pistol
-10+ maps on release hopefully a couple of remakes
-No Hologram/Armour Lock/Camo Armour Abilities whatsoever
-Pickupable Camo/Overshield/jetpack?/sprint?
-No non cosmetic equipment/ability choices
-Improved Challenges/Commendations/Credit system
-Zero Bloom or heavily nerfed bloom

I still have hope in 343 Industries for Halo 4 but I am very skeptical about whether it will meet at least some of my hopes. :frowning:

Thoughts? And Are you worried too?

You had some very good points. Im kind of worried and not so worried at the same time. It kind of seems like they know what they are doing.

No, not really. It’s in good hands.

Chill out until you’ve seen more than 30 seconds of gameplay.

Not in the slightest.

im not worried one bit

I thought that Reach was in good hands but they took a few to many wrong turns with that game :frowning:

He can change his mind if better gameplay is released. What we saw and have heard so far is lame CoD. Voicing outrage now is better than when the games already finished. What if we don’t get any more info till E3?

Everything mentioned sounded like CoD. With hatred to CoD at an all time high, and most people rejecting MW3, and the next game BO2 which most people disliked BO to begin with, nows the time to be Halo and not CoD more than ever. They can re invent the FPS genre again and stop all these cod copies ruining games

No they will do a good job. If you are worried, just wait 8 or 9 months til is comes out, then the anxiety will build less, i think.

Nah. There are other things to worry about. Halo 4 will just be what it used to distract from them.

Beat me to the punch! 343 knows what they are doing.

How and why is it on the next xbox

Nice vids bro

you forgot to list Reach under the Trueskill ranking system.

Personally, I’d like if there would not be any kind of perks or custom classes or even sprint would be out

Ten maps at launch is abysmal. Reach even had more than that. Quake 3, the last of the great PC shooters, had over 50. How far has gaming fallen where ten is now an acceptable number of maps?

I understand quality over quantity, but considering they’ve been working on Halo 4 for three years, there’s no excuse we can’t have both.

There’s this awesome game called Halo 3. I think you’re looking for that.

I heard from a friend who works in the industry and while I wouldn’t bet my house on this coming true it makes a lot of sense, Halo is probably Microsoft’s biggest game franchise and it would make a lot of sense to bring it out with the next generation of console.

Multiplatform release. Like Nintendo did with Zelda Twilight Princess.

There’s actually been a ton of rumors that Halo 4 will be a launch title for the new Xbox, and that there would be cross platform play.

As long as it comes out with enough maps for a decent variety and they are decent maps then I will be happy, 10+ decent maps yes. And there will of course be DLC maps afterwards.

There are 3 awesome games that 2 came out before reach, two of which had community’s that remained consistently active over the time they were the newest halo for several years. Reach bucked that trend because a lot of people didn’t like how it played. I like change just as long as it is for the better.

Yes. If it does have AAs/“perks” in a large portion of its multiplayer, I don’t know why anyone would consider buying it.
