I want them back badly, but we know 343i is working on them.
Ideally we would be able to toggle unlocked assassinations on and off.
Or at least choose one assassination for each conditional assassination.
Buuut my guess is they’ll make assassination “sets” and sell them to us.
Apparently though we’re waiting on them having more utility, which will come in who knows what form.
I hadn’t seen where 343 said explicitly that they will come to infinite! Thanks for sharing that.
The sad thing is that they chose not to launch with this feature because their “data” showed that people were toggling them off. Of course this leaves out people who play campaign, and anyone who didn’t play much of Halo 5 and therefore weren’t in the “data.”
Which quite disappointingly means that the campaign will not be built with assassinations in mind. Personally I think I’m actually going to wait for assassinations to be included in campaign before I buy the game, 343 needs to learn that they can’t just remove features without consequences. Naturally I understand I will have zero impact on them lol.
Well, apparently they have been working on them and they were meant to be included, but they didn’t prioritize them because they were getting turned off.
Which is because they added flair but puts the user at risk. Just universally worse. So they’re looking into making them help the player, tactically. Which is no easy task.
If they implement a scoring system for XP, they could be worth a lot. But that doesn’t really mean anything in competition.
Don’t really care for them. But that is to say just because I didn’t use them I still thought it was cool seeing people assassinated me if that makes any sense.
You weren’t doing that In Halo 2 or 3. Cause odds are your mashing it to get the double beat down if they weren’t weak enough. Why y’all holding it for?
I’m a flawed human being who sometimes holds buttons for longer than necessary. What are you driving at?
I already said I am fine with assassinations existing for those who want them. I don’t want to ruin anyone’s fun. All I ask is that I can disable them for myself so that there is no risk of me accidentally triggering them.
There are moments in MP where I miss them. Mostly when taking out a sweaty camper or friends in customs. Currently a single -Yoink!- and educational smack does suffice.
In the campaign they were nice when taking out big targets but I didn’t care much for them being active on grunts and jackals.
Don’t doubt they will return, but I’m afraid it won’t be without FOMO/MTX
In campaign I can live without them but in multiplayer I would love them back because they were always a nice extra taunt for your enemy leaving themselves open to being assassinated. Of course there were times where I accidentally locked myself in because I held the button too long or the game registered my melee funky but in the end I don’t dip into ranked enough to be too concerned about how good I’m playing so its all for laughs in the end.
I don’t think any of those are good poll options, but I do love assassinations, and if they make your Battle Pass XP based on your medals, you would get more XP for a fully completed assassination animation without getting killed out of it, than you would for a back smack, so I would like that personally, since I was a Wetwork Venator in 4, and still go for Ninja medals and back smacks in Infinite. I’d like them added as an optional toggle like before, so people can just use back smack if they don’t want to assassinate.
I’m driving at the fact why people complained about assassinations to this day, doesn’t make sense to me. I am still quite bitter about it so forgive me.
Personally I think that a bash from behind should do a bit more damage than from the front but shouldn’t be an instant kill, and assassinations should be fast but fatal.
But I will admit I’m not all that wrapped up in how they should work in MP, mostly I just want them to appear in campaign.
Haha this is why these forums are so interesting… that’s the polar opposite of my thinking!
I personally just loved the combat flow in Reach, I’ve always been more of a campaign guy than a MP guy, and I just LOVED sprinting around and assassinating elites and whatnot (or the few times I actually successfully assassinated brutes, LOVE that system.) It really gave me a sense of the Spartan’s hand to hand combat abilities and made it feel more immersive to me.
1 assassination only possible when you are crouched, it bring a little more difficultie to assassinate and it avoid player to confuse with a simple punch
2 Assassination faster to expose less time the assassin and don’t slow down the pace of the game
they’re being worked on. i remember a video vod a while back, can’t remember which, where 343 stated that they’l be implemented post launch because they’re trying to figure out how to better incorporate them into halo…
like what? that makes no sense and in my eyes just sounds like ‘we’re trying to find a way to overly monetize them’ like halo Reach’s assasinations were perfect, being based on where you back smacked the dude. holding the melee button did the animation, whiles just pressing it did the regular back smack. easy. makes sense, past games did it. they were quick whiles also giving a small time frame for the teamates to save the player
I’m not missing assassinations. I’m missing my radar. There’s always a certain kind of player that loves running up behind another dude and pushing their $h1t in. I, on the other hand, am the kind of guy that likes to kill those players.
Can I please have my radar back so I can better accomplish that?
Honestly there was points in game that would’ve been amazing clips if assassinations were enabled. Other day my wasp was exploding so i hopped out and landed right on top of a enemy and only did a backsmack and i said out loud “man that wouldve been awesome…” Really missing them
I’m probably of a minority but I really couldn’t care less about Assassinations, they’re cool but makes you vulnerable to enemy players on the map
I got abused by a teammate in Warzone because I shotgunned the guy he was Assassinating I only did it because he was he was going to get jumped by 3 players trying to Re-capture the Armoury
