I do very much agree with that, the lack of friendly fire is what makes it so bad. I do think the game would still be more fun if you only had one grenade to star; there’d be less spamming and more careful use that way, and when I play that way with my big LAN parties everyone loves it, but I digress.
Very much agree with this, yeah.
I’m way more tired of the AR spraying in every match that isn’t ranked. You can kill people with it across 4v4 maps which is ridiculous. And people actually want to say the BR is overpowered.
I don’t think the BR is overpowered, though personally I think the balance between the AR and BR is really good, there just needs to be more BRs on 4v4 maps. Right now there’s very few.
I do agree the range on the AR can be a bit much, but the damage I like cause I’ve always felt the only way the BR should have the advantage is if you play smart and use it from far enough away that the AR is outside it’s effective range. In close, they should be even as the BR isn’t really any harder to use.
The trouble I think is that most of the 4v4 maps are small and enclosed enough that the AR is almost always in range.

Not at all. Killing noobs with good grenades is part of the Halo trinity. Gitgud.

So you’re just going to pretend that “deciding weather or not to risk hitting your teammates if I toss grenades over here” isn’t one of those options? And you know what we got when we didn’t force people to “play a certain way”? Loadouts in Halo.
I’m already tired of these posts
grenade spam is no different than any of the other games but would like to see a reduction of the blast radius or a slight damage reduction. with having so many tight quarters its almost impossible to evade.
Yeah one grenade start would be fine, but honestly if they turn FF back on the spamming will largely stop as well I think.
I agree with your points.
I have a few requests for 343 when it comes to grenades I want to see too, personally:
- Bring back the grenade danger indicators from Halo 4.
- Slightly reduce the damage they do, but not too much like maybe 5-10% at least.
- Increase the delay for the grenades by at least 10%, since those things literally explode way too soon to try to run away from it.
After all, noob tubers always suck…
A remedy for this especially with the forced Objectives is grenade physics that get in the way, and friendly fire being on at all times. In ranked grenade spamming isnt…too too much as apparent as social where friendly fire is off.
Oh yeah; they made the grenades bouncier and got rid of grenade indicators, which means it’s all but impossible to avoid them. Pair that with no friendly fire, and you get worse grenade spamming than ever. @343 please address this!
in all honesty, I used to really feel like this. You couldnt take two steps without a grenada hitting you in the face from somewhere. Personally what i did to kinda help get over this was i went into customs with a few friends and we just took turn lobbing tons of grenades at each other learning how to best use the equipment to kinda get over this. The two best equipment that we found was the repulsor (i mean honestly). but the second one was the boost surprisingly. I found that for me personally, if im getting swarmed by grenades, i usually boost opposite of them. There are times when ill have to boost towards the other players, but have found that about 50% of the time, either their still stuck in part of the animations so i get a little bit of free damage, or that their not expecting a player to boost towards them and some even -Yoink!- out a little. I hope this helps.
Problem is you can spam the crap outta them because theres no team killing and i noticed if theres only teammates around when you throw em sometimes they dont even go off. but, still nades are nades and throwing your nuts at a fire first isnt gunna make you last longer itll get ya killed sooner. so. if your playing with a bunch of teammates that are just commiting suicide as they run into a firefight. switch teams.
I think grenades are mostly fine at the moment. Even in BTB I don’t think I can recall any obvious instances of people taking advantage of the no FF to any real noticeable effect such as just charging in through the friendly grenade explosions. Most of the time, anyone who would be doing that would be tossing grenades themselves so they’re not going to want to go in. Or the enemies that are having grenades thrown at them are throwing back grenades in return. Or they just wait for the grenades to blow up and then go in, as grenades are being thrown in a contested area for a reason so they don’t want to charge in headfirst all alone unless they also have some backup going in with them.
People have just been using grenades as they’ve always used grenades in Halo. What I do think is a problem is the bounciness of the frag grenades. They go all over the freakin’ place and it is very frustrating where what would normally be some backing away to avoid a grenade has suddenly turned into instances of the grenade skipping off the floor, deflecting off the wall, and ending its long journey with a roll behind your feet. I would like something to be down with the bounciness.
Otherwise though, with equipment like the Drop Wall and the Repulsor - which I do use often, especially when I’m capturing objectives to great success - at your disposal, I don’t mind the current state of grenades other than that bounciness.
Yeah I do think the equipment can be really good to mitigate them, but right now, equipment is less accessible than grenades. I mean, in Fiesta it was fine, cause I always have an equipment to use; but in regular game you don’t get equipment all the time. Especially in Arena, I feel like it hasn’t stopped being a problem; I think it’s only gonna be resolved if they do some combination of weakening the grenades, reducing the number your start with, or adding indicators so you can tell when there are hostile grenades around you.
This may be a hot take, especially coming from someone who’s played online since CE PC, but I’d be totally cool with seeing how Halo played if they were just on the map pickups like everything else.
Dude I would have so much fun with that. I really wish they had that as a version of the game you could play online
Welcome to halo, you’ll get used to it
