Is anyone actually good?

Just like to see how many good players there are in this forum. I don’t mean 2.0 on social playlist good, I mean solid MLG team player with a dirty shot kinda good.

I don’t know if i am considered MLG top but i am LW guy, 99% games i stay in 1st or 2nd … but i haven’t played halo reach in a while :frowning:

MLG playlist in reach is just as social. Matches are just as unbalanced as they are in those ‘social’ playlists you talk about. One match you get super A team. The next you are stuck with team afk and quitters.

@MysticalGaming

The majority of good MLG players don’t go near the playlist anyway. We just stick in customs all day because the majority of playlist kids are plain -Yoink-.

The dynamic of “good” has been muddied in Reach to the point that nobody has a clear consensus on just exactly what good is. There are of course the “your only good is you play MLG” people. Followed by the “you dont have onyx in Arena, so you are no good” guys, etc etc etc.

In less than two weeks, the parameters of “good” are going to be turned upside down and a whole new game is going set the bar for who is good and Reach will have very little if anything to do with it.

Anyone actually good? Don’t be so vain OP.

This is just an honest question seeing as its so damn cringey seeing some of the posts people come out with on this forum. Especially in regards to Halo 4, the amount of “oh what big cool looking guns and maps are there” rather than “what game changing mechanics have been implemented” is just painful. I understand that there a lots of casuals and I respect that but when you get people like [REDACTED] going round trying to sound like they know what they’re talking about and obviously don’t because they’re awful, then it just too much cringe.

I hate it when people get excited over a new Halo as wel- oh wait… no I don’t, because I’m not some tryhard wannabe that’s so jaded by trying to play Halo “efficiently” rather than playing to have fun.

I wish I were though, so I can look at the people that are excited about Halo 4 with disgust while I sit and complain on the forums about how everybody sucks compared to me.

That part was a lie too.

During the earlier years of Halo, when you had to gather up everybody from the neighborhood to get a 16 player game together, you rarely would have turned people away as you needed them to fill a position.

You are the kind of person who would have got passed up because of your attitude.

Halo is not a mechanic, it is not a playlist, it is not a K/D or a jump height or default run speed.

It is an amazing game for people to get together and enjoy, perhaps you should take time to practice that.

I agree with That Guerilla, most of the people talking about halo 4 aren’t very good at the game. Now I’m not saying they don’t have a right to be excited, and neither is he. His question was who among the forum feel they are strong players with a consistent shot and teamwork. I’m really tired of seeing every competitive themed thread being flamed by 343i Fanboys. If you don’t care about winning that’s fine and dandy, but some of us play to win. That doesn’t mean we don’t have fun playing the game, it means we have fun working together as a team to accomplish a common goal compared to running around by ourselves and rushing all game with an ar and going neg - 15. You all -Yoink- anytime a competitive player posts on any of your boring threads, so if it’s not acceptable to you why flame others posts? I’m sorry but the attitude all of the “Bungie” and “343” Kids have is a little obnoxious, hence why I never really get involved with either of these forums. At the end of the day if you just want to play and not care about win’s / losses good for you, and the same to the rest of us who want to win. Honestly I don’t get why it’s even a battle between the two groups. Have fun -Yoinking!- at each other kiddos.

I tend to go 1.0 in MLG. Currently MLG is the only playlist I am negative in… and thats only because I used to be a dummy and run in by myself without a mic when I first got reach over a year ago.

I am.

Without proper ranked True Skill playlists it is entirely subjective

I have a >3 KD in Reach on all three my accounts. My main has a 4.2 KDR, and I even search alone. I don’t play MLG in Halo Reach because I generally do not do well. It has nothing to do with me, but the fact that I get three horrible teammates and go against full parties of four. I’m an MLG 50 and have beaten Neighbor on his livestream so I have little to prove.

Halo Reach is bad and anyone thinking a 2.0 KDR is good is wrong. 3.0 or higher or you’re bad.

Thanks for your opinion.

To answer your question OP, I’ve yet to venture into the MLG playlist with Reach since it started watering things down to a ZB variant.

Fact is, I felt MLG was making a bad decision by forcing multiple changes like it did and decided to play Arena instead when I could get a team together. I’m happy with my decision, though I am disappointed MLG didn’t pick up the news flash of what five or more modifications to the sandbox can do to a player and fan base.

Either way though, MLG is looking good with Halo 4 so far, so we’ll see how it goes. I’ll definitely play it in Halo 4 at least to give it a chance…

My K/D is 1.49 but that incorporates about 6 months of me learning how to play in Matchmaking… I only entered online play in Reach (played a little Halo 3 afterward to get achievements, etc). A bad K/D doesn’t always mean someone is a lousy player- maybe a MLG player on an alternate account, etc.

And no, I’m not “good” in a competitive sense but I’ve improved from what I used to be.

This pisses me off too, especially when the tyrannic mods ban us and say WE are the ones flaming.

I don’t think a person’s opinion always correlates to stats or skill. I have friends who are really good at the game who like bloom, for instance.

I also know people who are sub par who have a tremendous understanding of Halo mechanics.

It is frustrating when someone who I might consider bad says what is/is not skillful. He still has a right to his opinion though. It comes down to the validity of the argument and not the person’s K/D or Arena rank. So I have learned to focus on the argument and not the players skill.

This might be the best post I have ever seen from you.

According to Halotracker, there is only 726 players with a K/D of 3.0 or higher and the account you are posting on Waypoint is not one of them. That is because it does not track accounts with a miniscule amount of games. Because it is exceedingly easy to start new accounts and pound people to get a 3.0 K/D.
