Is anybody else worried about the future of halo?

with a skrinking player base. I am more concerned about the games future; it would really suck if what happened to Anthem, happens to Halo Infinite

also if anybody from 343 sees this you are welcome to use my likeness and voice :joy::joy::joy:

Is this a thread to discuss the population of Halo or getting you a job as a VA?

What?

Pop is definitely shrinking but is about to potentially get a lot bigger with mainline Halo games coming to PC. I’m not really worried as long as there’s enough people to get games with but it would be nice if Infinite was a hit, bringing it back into the spotlight.

You’ve gotta think that considering Halo 5 was released almost four years ago and MCC is a collection of games released almost a decade ago that their populations are actually really impressive.

In as diverse of a market that we have today being able to maintain a stable population for years is very impressive. Not every game needs to be Fortnite/Apex/BR Favor of the week.

Shrinking player base for a game that’s as old as H5 is bound to happen. Much like every other halo game when a new one comes out, population sparks.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t. IMO, Halo 4 was a step down from Reach, though the Infection was the best, and Halo 5 was the furthest thing from Halo game-play wise with the worst campaign and enemies, but the Forge is the best. I haven’t played Halo Wars 2 yet, but that game looks great and a step-up from Halo Wars, so kudos there. I don’t know how relevant this is, but I could also due without each game pushing its graphics to the limit, I would much rather have a fun game with ā€œokā€ graphics (Like Deep Rock Galactic) than a boring gorgeous game (Like Anthem, though I haven’t played it).

I didn’t play much of reach, just the campaign hen stopped entirely. Never played Halo 4, returned to halo after 5 years or so of not playing and H5 is hands down my fav. Not campaign though.

Not worried tbh, I hope Halo Infinite turns out to be a great game as I’m a long time fan of Halo however if it’s a let down again then I don’t see myself caring about the future as it would’ve been killed for me already.

under 10k H5G players after 6 months is good?

I worry not so much for the future of Halo, after both the MCC getting treated right, Halo infinites announcement and scarce details AND Reach getting on the MCC.
343 has learned to listen, to be transparent and to include their fans in the developement. Sure enough the population always falls a while after each games, Halo 5 suffered greatly because of it alienating fans, however Halo has survived for so long now. Fans of the first Halo days, are mostly grown up now, have jobs, kids viceversa. Their time is strained but others who stepped into the franchise at later dates, have more time to devote. Reach is a testament to 343s handling of Halo: They’re doing great.

Halo infinite is promising, something about that engine trailer gave me enough, upon that also all the improvements seen over the last few years.

Don’t worry, Halos population won’t ever die but remember that times change, so do the age of the members in the community and the oldies eventually retire game time, for real life time and whatever it includes.

No. Not anymore. I no longer care.
There has been so much mishandling of the franchise over the last decade(!) that I just gave up by now.
I still drop by the forums every now and then to see what the consensus on Halo is nowadays, but as for personal involvement, I mostly withdrew myself and watch the continuous dumpster fire from the sidelines…

Look at the sales of Halo games. I’ll just post the main series (no Halo Wars or remasters or MCC).

Halo: Combat Evolved - 5.5 million
Halo 2 - 8+ million
Halo 3 - 14.5 million
Halo: Reach - 9.87 million
Halo 4 - 9.75 million
Halo 5: Guardians - 5+ million

Do you see a trend?

Definitely wasnt under 10 thousand after 6 months but it wasnt that much better

I disagree completely. Not only is the entire community re-invograted by the potential of Infinite (in one way or another), but the announcement of Reach being added to MCC, and mcc being added to steam will bring tons and tons of traffic alone. Not to mention mcc being released on pc and steam all but guarantees the same fate for Infinite. Halo is on the verge of a massive resurgence, and the last thing we should be worried about right now is the community shrinking, cause it’s about explode and possibly get larger than it ever has been before.

The entire community is not reinvigorated by infinite, all we got was a teaser and the game wont come out for another year and a half most likely. And there is no way a huge explosion as you put it will happen which would increase the playerbase to more then halo 2 or 3.I Like the enthusiasm, but you also have to be realistic

They certainly have all the momentum going for them and the PC release should help fund further development into Infinite.

its with all game’s and its not with halo its more that players like to play fortnite or apex more since then playing game’s you most pay to play and if more free to play game’s are coming out like fortnite or apex then other game’s getting also problems.

I’m… wary about Infinite. I hope it’s good. I really really really really do. But I just have a really bad feeling.
