Does anybody actually like this motion tracker in Infinite. Almost every post I have seen from people here on the forums that mentioned the tracker were people complaining about it. I know that I hate it personally.
The range is the shortest it has ever been in a Halo game to my knowledge, at 18m. All previous Halo games had 25m radar afaik. The short range is a real pain when people can sprint and grappleshot up to you pretty quickly. I know 343 said that the BTB radar would increase to 22m on the full release on December 8th, but they said they would keep Arena at 18m which really sucks.
343 claims that there is a visual distinction on the radar to tell you if the enemy is on the same level as you, or above or below you, but I see no distinction at all.
343 said that the ability to customize the UI, including the radar position, won’t come until sometime in the future, which sucks because the radar is pretty far away from your focal point on the targeting reticle which can make it hard to watch while playing.
These things combine to make watching the radar often more of a distraction than anything else. Which sucks because it wasn’t like that in past Halo games.
It does suck. I thought I read they were going to increase it in general. It’s important to have a consistent experience. Having it be one range in one playlist and different in another is a poor choice. They have something good here if they don’t make these mediocre mistakes.
Reminds me of their take on player collision. It’s causing me issues left and right getting punched inside of people etc. However they seem to think it’s fine despite extensive outcry from the community.
I agree 25 should be the standard. In a lot of these maps the 18m radar gives a massive advantage to the person with the sword or hammer. By the time they pop up on your screen it’s too late to do anything about it.
Especially with the mobility of sprinting, grapple hook and the thruster, 18m feels entirely too small. On top of that, I feel like the lunge distance of the sword and area of effect for the hammer are also longer. Not even melee weapons, but if somebody is on your radar and you aren’t shooting at them, it’s too late. It really doesn’t feel useful to me
