Infinite can be like that, but they need to figure out how to turn Zeta into a MMO space.
I can only imagine something similar to Warframe’s Openworld with Squads, so it’s just Open World with Fireteams.
Then a main social hub.
We could totally use a social hub too, so we don’t need to make Social customs anymore.

open worlds are not popular for a long time. they are difficult to create. therefore, the cost and development time will be very high. we need missions, tasks, operations from the director’s point of view, planned (this is closer to session or semi-open worlds)

GTA V is still pretty popular, it fits the MMO spectrum… I think the main thing that makes an Open World great, is the actual content and detail of the map. Some games did this poorly, I won’t mention any titles, but some games do NOT have much variation when it comes to landscaping/cityscaping etc.
MMO Worlds should be more like WoW or GTA V. Definite aesthetic liberties that each zone takes to make unique and memorable playspaces. It is possible, old games have done it, new games are doing it, it just takes passion. Halo has that.
Ain’t gonna lie…A looter shooter/MMO like Destiny with this game’s combat sounds spectacular.

I wouldn’t mind jumping into a world where there are other players and you can all jump into a warthog, complete missions and have a blast together finding new gear and weapons together.
