Is 343i locking topics that criticize Infinte's exploitative progression/customization?

.I couldn’t help but notice a few threads I had been following keep ending up locked. Oddly enough, they’re all about the same thing.

Anyone else experiencing this?

100% they are. They tell us to give feedback, but when’s it’s feedback criticising certain things, they just lock the thread.

Great job 343 :ok_hand:t4: :+1:t4:

Wow. Just wow. They really try to take every opportunity to scummy, don’t they?

Yes, they’re now 100% tyrants. Goes hand-in-hand witht the endless virtue-signaling on Facebook.

Good people and companies that are at peace with themselves don’t feel the need to virtue-signal all day.

Had a similar thing happen when I made a post surrounding “maybe adding additional body types” in the future.

I’m at a loss for words. It’s an absolute shame what this has come to. So much potential wasted when they’ve literally had the blueprints, the time, the feedback, and comparisons to do something special. But no, they decided to cash in on whales.

Yeah, it’s a bummer of intergalactic proportion.

Something I try to remind myself is that 343 is just an arm of Microsoft. Whatever quota or financial numbers they need to follow is really what drives the ship. I’m not making excuses or saying hey that’s bad or hey leave them alone. I’m saying that ultimately what works is people declaring what they will do with their wallets. Financial disclosure is what will make changes to this game. Truth be told, Microsoft should have thought more before making it F2P, big money AAA games I just don’t believe can sustain a system built for cheap exploitive cell phone games.

They are probably trying to figure out what to do as more and more people voice their financial honesty. We’ll hear from them soon, it’s so rooted in this F2P structure that whatever they do probably won’t be enough. Here’s to the campaign baby…

I’d be more willing to bet they got locked down because they eventually stopped being constructive, but idk. I’m not following any of them. Could just be people who disagree with the statements mass spamming flaggings, I don’t really know if the waypoint forum is still monitored by actual mods or if bots have been put in the place of them for locking threads down.

The nice thing about the old waypoint forum was that when a comment thread got locked down, a mod usually left a comment stating why. I don’t know if I’ve seen a mod yet leave a comment.

You’re right and they’ll pay for it when the hype passes and no one is there to buy anything.

But then again, they could always pay streamers to keep hype going because honestly, if online gambling casinos can make all of this money doing that, why shouldn’t a souless corporation like Microsoft?

Could be the redundancy of the threads, or that several of them seem to devolve into a gauntlet of two sides hurling insults, while a handful of more moderately minded people try to dispel misinformation or misrepresentation of the issues (of which there is a STAGGERING amount of in nearly every BP/shop thread I’ve seen).

the comment I received on my one was “Not to repeat discussions from locked threads” even though it was just my take on the Body Type slider in Infinite, that being “Its good, but more options would be nice.”

I suspect the actual reason was due to how toxic that one got though, the post it possibly correlated with.

I rather prefer when a mod explains the lock as well.

Same here. Because all it looks like is then trying to minimize their poor decisions.

They generally lock repeat threads, however, I have seen one or two that do seem to be locked without comment. Possibly due to the thread replies being non-constructive (nswf).

There are clearly some glaring issues with this game that need to be addressed or the multiplayer experience will fail. Future threads should try to stay constructive in order to put forth issues to 343 without being drowned out by spiteful rhetoric.

Yes and no. Anyone who has spent any meaningful amount of time in forums know that the mods and the dev’s aren’t the same people. Mods are there to enforce forum rules, if that results in a thread lock the question SHOULD be “what went wrong in the thread” instead of and immediate assumption of censorship.

Yeah a few posts I’ve browsed through today I offered my opinion and basically got called a troll and had everyone breathing down my neck. This new forum really needs to go back to some roots of the old ones. There were trolls and toxic people everywhere sure, but you rarely saw them because their posts got blocked or basically censored due to lack of constructive criticism or lack of being on topic.

@SweetTRIX Yeah, not sure why that’s just not a thing anymore. I kind of wish we still had the old waypoint forum but they just gave it a new look. All of this is still so hard to adjust to.

I guess it got so toxic it also resulted in another post from days earlier getting locked too.

a shame cause I wanted to encourage a healthy discussion surrounding the topic.

though given the topic itself, the “Body Sliders Options”, its not an easy one to keep constructive.

I’ve noticed. I don’t think it’s 343i themselves though. I think it’s just a really defensive monitor.

The monitor’s name that keeps locking these forums is “comedic_hermit” (or something like that) they have a yellow flower for their profile pic.

With that being said though, I totally understand a lot of these forums getting locked. I made one a while back about how I thought Cortana looked odd in the campaign overview a few weeks ago (she looked like she lacked detail, less datastreams flowing down her body for example) and the forum got locked because this absolute neanderthal came in and accused someone else of being a… well… VERY bad thing, then the thread was locked.

So I feel like it depends on the situation and how drastic it is, and other times it depends on what mood the monitors are in honestly.

Unfortunately some topics are simply radioactive at this point. Even the “in defense of” camp in a discussion can become every ounce as inappropriate and insulting as the topics detractors.
