Hello guys,
a lot of people, as well as myself, have been trying to go dark for Halo 4 but 343i just seems to be releasing more and more information, and when it appears that battle has been won and the game has been darkened, one is dragged by the new updates into reading more and more into spoiling the game for oneself. Personally, I believe 343i is releasing far too much information about the game which quite concerns me. I know the many of you might just say: “Hey, the solution is simple: just go dark”, but in reality, it is different. Thanks to human curiosity, one of the most primitive biological instincts of the human being, it is as if updates were not asking to be read of just to be slightly peeked rather than dragging people into fully exploring them. I know this is 343i’s baby so the way it is released to the public can not be compared to the way Bungie updated the halo community of former Halo titles. However, the fact that 343i’s is releasing so much information about their game in such a fast way can be quite concerning for it, in a way, kills the mood for Halo 4. Personally, I miss those times where the intrigue of not truly knowing what a screenshot from Halo 4 meant, how spartan ops was gonnaly play or if there ever was gonna be a game mode involving flood characters as zombies, killed me. It makes me think that 343i, while trying to improve the gameplay by utilizing the communitie’s opinion of their updates, is in reality spoiling many details of the game that should be left in the dark. I feel the game has already been out quite a while in the market making me a little bit indifferent to wheter if I’m dying or not to play the game.
For example, the videos about the weapons included in the game were not necessary at all and their release simply killed the hype about not knowing which weapon the game did not include and compeletely evaporates any curiosity the watcher had towards the game for not knowing any information at all about how the new weapons would look like, which new weapons would be included to the game and how their firing would look and sound like. Videos like the one mentioned above and screenshots about the new vehicle shooting covenant carriers were not necessary and wouldn’t have affected negatively the game given the case in which they wouldn’t have been released.
343i should slow a little bit down and release updates about the game less often if they want to attract the maximun possible attention of the hardcore halo community. Their constant updating is killing a little be the mood for the game while spoiling the little details that transform the first gameoplay session throughout the entire game an enciting and unforgettable experience.
P.S. Sorry for my english for it is not my first language.
I see where you are coming from, however, seeing how this is 343i’s first Halo game i’m not surprised.
They are trying to draw a crowd, sure they are revealing a lot but they have no previous game to tell people, “Hey, we’re really good at this, don’t worry.”
Therefore they have to do stuff like this.
Expect more secrecy come Halo 5, and 6. (Possibly 7, 8, and 9)
Well myself and many others like to see updates, also helps knowing the product you are buying. and like doggeddust said i also am still pretty damn excited…
honestly man… if you are trying to not know things about halo 4, you shouldnt be on this forum… sry but its that simple.
I don’t think that they are releasing too much info. Look at it this way: would you rather have them gain hype like every single fricking nintendo game to come out on the market by delaying the release? didn’t think so
Eh, I wouldn’t care if they released a 5 hour step by step dissection of multiplayer, ill still play it, and ill still be excited. What really makes me want the game is the campaign, as long as they dont release to much about that I don’t care.
They actually haven’t shown anything new for the campaign. It’s been the same three missions we’ve seen since the GI article e3 and the vidocs. They have just put out a ton of screen shots for the same 3 missions.

Which I think is pretty amazing. There’s what, eight missions? And we have a bunch of screenshots on those first three?
Those first three look incredibly varied. I can’t wait to see what comes after.

Also a lot from the 5 or so Spartan ops missions.
But yes, lots of variety.
Custom games, Matchmaking, and Forge details can easily substitute spoilerific Campaign details. Back story is good for not revealing the Campaign directly. They could give us lengthy back story for each individual map too.
I agree with this guy. If anything it gets me more excited when I go back and watch those videos. I’m hyped for it. But I get what your talking about. To each his own, as I always say.
