As a game developer 343i has an obligation to deliver a halo game that stays true to the legacy of the old games while inter-grading new content and mechanics to stream line and improve the overall feel from the previous Halo title. This is my opinion. 343i don’t really have to do this. The path they have chosen, while developing their new take on Halo may not give credit to my stance but it has strengthened it for me.
I’m not saying Halo 4 and 5 are complete garbage but the long lasting fun that I had while playing CE, 2 and 3 are just not in these games. It is 343i lack of understanding about what Halo’s identity is as a game that contributes to this. Halo 4 was just spartan CoD it provided fun but it completely ignored all the fundamental formulas that clearly make Halo unique.
Halo 5 they overhauled the multiplayer again. This time it worked. For a brief moment it felt exciting but they tarnished it. Lack of content + a req system are just a few things that got me to lose interest. I’m a halo player who likes jumping in and out of different play lists. 343i made the life improvements to the multiplayer but got so attached to what skilled players wanted that they in turn delivered a game focused solely on meeting the needs of competitive play. This raises another issue I have with how 343i treat making a Halo game. They seem to only focus on one type of player base. Halo 4 was to casual it lacked competitive play, halo 5 alienated the casual playing group (like me).
I paid for halo 5 and I don’t need to be sitting around waiting for 343i to release patches to correct their short sighted vision. I reinstalled the game and the content in halo 5 now, should have being there launch day. I played a classic halo 3 themed play list and it gives me hope that 343i will be adding this feature to halo infinite and fingers crossed they will be adding all the decent maps from previous halos, so it is not just forge creations. (another point I made, all added content feels like an after thought)I don’t want another let down Halo title. I also don’t have the time and energy to keep up with threads and posting opinions. I know the Halo community is voicing/venting frustrations and helpful solutions to 343i. I’m only here to remind 343i that I will not be feeding them a cent if they do not show evidence that they will be delivering a better experience. I’ve given 343i enough chances.I don’t want to come across as hostile. ‘Dumpster fire’ is how I felt the last few games handled by 343i have been. The main Halo titles anyway, cannot mention halo wars 2 have yet to play it. 343i need to honor Halo, not try and rework it so they can add their own spin to the game. All the hard work was done by Bungie, they just need to advance it with simple/logical improvements. I think I have said they could add sprint, but it doesn’t seem like 343i sit down and play H2 and H3 to come up with the answer to the question, ‘how do we add sprint with out changing the map/game play?’. You cannot get the same tactical experience in 343i inspired Halo due to the way they go about including sprint. ‘That shooter has it so should we’ attitude 343i has about sprint will never work for Halo. Map control, map design, things that help you transverse the map (man cannons, teleporters, grav lifts) are none existent. I’m not closed to the idea of sprint but I have yet to see a fun map made from 343i. I could only run and shot for so long before the fun of halo 5 was gone.I’m a simple Halo fan, I want a fun Halo title from 343i. They are making a platform exclusive title and it should stay in the top 10 most played during the games life time.
Campaign that I play as MC only, Halo 2 proved that a majority don’t like playing another main character hence why the arbiter is nothing more than a sidekick on H3, (could be wrong but I hated it when the arbiter missions cut me off from the chief missions)
Multiplayer that doesn’t exclude any player from enjoying it. Halo was a game built around having a good time while having competitive elements not a competitive exclusive game.
New innervation that improves Halo’s quality but above all 343i to show love and respect to the gift of a game they got given. If they want to make another shooter by all means just don’t sell it using the name Halo
Title looked interesting. Didn’t read the novel after. Spark notes please?
TL;DR so I’ll just give my opinions on your title sentence.
For them it’s much less about respecting the halo title, and more about respecting us as a community. Do you think halo infinite would have split screen if we had stayed silent about it in halo 5? No. It wouldn’t. But they didn’t decide to bring it back because of “respecting the halo title” it was because the community expressed vivid disagreement with the removal. 343 listened. 343 acted. Same with new maps in btb, or removal of spartan charge and ground pound in HCS. Same with updated and streamlined forge controls, or with balancing the sandboxes.
“The team also heard feedback loud and clear on the amount of time spent playing as the Master Chief in Halo 5. In Halo Infinite, the game will focus on the Master Chief and continue his saga after the events of Halo 5.”
It’s not respecting halo. It’s respecting us.
also people complained about the artstyle so what did they do they listened and acted by making halo infinite look more like a halo title than 4 and 5 have had chief’s armor is a prime example of them listening having splitscreen was confirmed again focused on chief once again as 5 should of been again its respecting us and listening to our feedback so far with what little we know they are listening to us its respecting us and our opinion and feedback

AGREE, but the fact they posted a job opening to someone to design a microtransaction system says otherwise

im aware of that fact
The great wall of words. Are they finally respecting a Halo title? I have no idea, but I hope they do. Just going off of the limited info from the video, it looks promising.
