Is 343 working with MLG?

If so, i know my halo is in safe hands … No aa’s, No bloom, Ranked and social, Same health system as in halo 3 and so on …

That’s not the way it works.

Bungie/ 343 develop the game the way they want it and THEN MLG tweaks the settings to suit their style.

They are already.
MLG=Halo

But I liked armor abilities! They add much needed flavor to the game and just because you don’t like them in MLG, doesn’t mean that they should be omitted from the game entirely. It makes Campaign, Custom games, and Firefight (with the exception of some) competitive playlists a lot more fun.

If they are wise, they will respect the opinions of MLG, they represent the most competitive players in the community and they know their stuff.

If you don’t believe me, then look at Gears 3. Cliffy B. worked with MLG on the multiplayer and several former Gears pro players and teams like Amayzn to get the right gameplay, and that game is a total success. Bungie actually blew off MLG with Reach and refused to even talk to them about itGiovannini Sundance actually considered doing another year of Halo 3 instead of Reach just because of the way Bungie treated them. Look at the game we got… not great compared to previous success, and one evident change; not working with MLG.

Weird. Some fans love MLG, others think they’re little more than a bunch of try-hards. Interesting.

It’s one of those things I suppose. Talk to MLG as far as they want to, but if it goes agaisnt what 343 intend for the game; then really, who should win out?

The actual MLG pros that participate in the circuits I respect. They are good enough to prove it in a tournament setting.

Those who play in the MLG playlists and think they are MLG because of it I hold no respect for.

343 shouldn’t listen to anyone, if they hear to MLG or to the people halo 4 will be the worst hslo game ever.
Seriously, most people don’t know what they want, and when they know it’s usually the removal of everything.

Well 343 should obviously take the game in the direction that they want to, but they should consider the opinions of the higher-ups over at Major League Gaming.

TRUE

I hope so. MLG beta tested Halo 2 and gave feedback and as any Halo vet with good taste knows, Halo 2 had the best MP in the series. (Sure, it got better after that patch but still)

I’m not a fan of MLG though, but I respect what they do.

This.

Competitively-designed game = good for competitive & casuals
Casually-designed game = only good for casuals

Gears 3 and Starcraft are living examples of this.

Also, people opposed to this need to stop being so extremist or nobody is going to view your opinions as having any credibility. These “they will take away everything” posts are not helping you. Make a concise argument and look to seek a balance rather than simply demanding that any competitive players be completely pushed aside because that simply isn’t going to happen. Be realistic and realize that the argument is not simply about “competitive or not” but rather about “how much.”

Designing the core to be competitive does not mean that they are unable to add more casual features on top of that. One example of this is the action sack playlist in Halo 2.

Working backwards from casual settings into competitive ones, however, is not only difficult but in many ways impossible.

Oh, definately. The competitive make up the more…noisy part of the Halo fanbase. I’m just saying that, if what MLG want is too different to what 343 want, then 343 should just do their best.

The only real problem I could see coming from the partnership ( I’m all for cross-organisation game desgin) is if MLG simply wanted to go back to pure Halo 2/3 gameplay, which I couldn’t see 343 quite going for.

They’ve stated a few times actually that they were working with MLG with the TU and H4. Twice very publicly.

It’s probably a little late for Reach though and 343’s main concern will probably be H4 at this point but that doesn’t mean they wont help with Reach. MLG’s main focus currently is SC2 and I don’t think is helping 343 much with Reach because of it.

343 knows to get back to Halo’s roots and to keep it Halo.

No you’re quite wrong with this.

343 may ask for MLG’s input on some things while developing the game or ask what features MLG needs in it to make it competitive. A few different developers this year were working with MLG before their games came out and continued after it came out.

They can also work with them after as well to better it for the circuit.

Its not like MLG is a co partner or anything, its small things that will make big differences.

This.

At it’s very core Halo multiplayer is a competitive experience.

But that is not to say you cannot add things to make it appeal to other audiences as well.

Like someone else said, casuals will play a competitive game, competitive people dont like casual games though. Either MLG should be in charge of designing multiplayer for Halo and they can add stuff for casuals later or MLG should just start a studio and make their own FPS…but thats just wishful thinking;)

If Halo 4 is a successful and popular game, MLG will play it have it in the circuit, with the permission of 343i of course.

They have stated that they are but they are also working with others too. I appreciate 343’s attitude. It appears so far that they want to make the best Halo games they can. A large part of anything is in the attitude so I am encouraged.

of course!, mlg dont really work with 343 or bungie but they will defiantly be MLG comps and playlists in the following halo’s, the pro’s have said it them self’s
