The recent adjustments of Breakout, and the strange decisions for the campaign have made me wonder. Is 343i taking the wrong risks with Halo 5?
It’s become obvious to me that 343i is a radical company. Their “unpredictable” nature is their signature. This can be for the better(Halo 5s Forge and Multiplayer), and for the… How can I say this with respect so this can be taken seriously? Well let’s just call it for the very questionable(H5 campaign).
I feel 343 could strengthen their bond with the community if they were to use their ideals of change on other aspects of the game. For example, maybe put out a test playlist on Team v Team matchmaking. We could see how it would function off of paper. Or hey what if 343 tried a playlist where elite models were in use over our spartans. Why not try it. To those at 343i, the community is more useful than a showcase. Back to the point, many other options could be tested. Many more risks to be taken. 343 pls. Get freaky with us bb
The campaign is done…it was what it was… I hope the H6 campaign isn’t a “team” based campaign and has a way better script. Also I hope they don’t recycle boss fights again… if we have to fight the warden again in H6 it will be just horrible. Hopefully he is offed in a book or cut scene. As far as multiplayer I kinda like they try and change things up. I like the rotational social playlist, granted not all of them but that is why rotational is good. I think they have a good base for mechanics and weapon balance is near perfect. Had they not tied in every cosmetic in the req system and added some wild cards so you could pick a specific req from time to time that it would have been way more accepted.

Rotational playlists are great. I just want 343 to have the cajones to try more diverse ideas than Swat FFA and Rocket Party. Covie slayer was a step in the right direction. As for the campaign, 343 seems to be trying to put it back in the right track. Referencing Halo Wars 2. As for the req system/credit system/armor linked to achievements thing. I want 343 to try something completely different tbh. Just to see where they would go with customization.

You’re not the boss of me

I agree with you about not recycling boss fights. But don’t off the Warden in a book. That would just leave the people who don’t read them and only play the games (i.e. myself) wondering what happened to him.
I did not appreciate how they did that with the Didact. When I beat Halo 4 and watched the Didact fall down into the composer thing, I remember thinking “there’s no way he’s dead, I can’t wait to see him in Halo 5”. But Halo 5 came out and no mention of any Didact, and I later found out he did come back and get killed or something but it all happened in a book. That’s actually quite annoying.

We have fought the warden countless times now… to fight him again in H6 would just be atrocious.
I am just.now getting into the books and I will say I have been missing out… more fans need to get into the books and outside media of Halo IMO

I don’t want to fight the Warden in Halo 6 any more than you do. But if he gets killed off, they should at least mention it in the games so people who don’t read the books can have some closure. Your other idea was killing him off in a cutscene and I think that would be fine

You guys are joking right? Cause this is my legit reaction to your posts. I could list several reasons why rotational playlists are stupid, but I doubt anything would change. You guys can like rotational playlists, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call them “good”.

Well you probably aren’t thinking of what goes into making games. A rotational social playlist is good because 343 can use that as a gauge on what players like. If a temporary playlist keeps a high population clearly players like it and maybe then they can implement it in future playlist. But if no one plays it they know to junk it. Some players just don’t realize how games are made. You see comments like “no one asked for that”… so? No one asked for husky raid in H4 and it was pure epicness… no one asked for infection in H2 and it was epicness… no one asked for a lot of stuff in Halo that turns out awesome.

To be honest, as much as I get annoyed with what they did with Halo 5, they nearly have a very, very good game. Regional server selection along with split screen, Elites, rocket race and a few other staples, BtB at launch, a grittier look with blood and dirt and all the other things we lost along they way could have made Halo 5 the best ever imo.
But no. They removed too much imo. If you’re missing by an inch, you might as well miss by a mile. Where it is in the most played after a year shows it has not retained a high player base. Which is sad, as Halo is our flagship title. Halo 5 should have been everything all the other games were and more,
All we can do is hope for Halo 6.

I like their concept, but I wish they were more experimental. Super Fiesta was awesome, but I agree that Swat FFA and Rocket Party were kind of wastes. This post was the result of me playing the overwatch brawls, switching back to Halo 5, and wondering why a launch playlist counted as a featured one. I get that it was refreshed, bit honestly that space should be saved for the more experimental playlists.

But theres been no proof of this even being the case. Then have you ever thought of how many people like and want to play fiesta but its in rotational and 343 hasn’t said anything about making that, or anything else permanent. By the way, I think the population would be higher if there were several playlists instead of just the ones we have now, yeah they can have a rotating system to see what they could include, but only if they are going to make it permenant, which hasn’t been the case for months despite quite a few rotational playlists being begged for on the forum to be permanent.
Think about it, how many players will play a game where they can’t even play their favorite mode(s) anytime they want, but instead have to hope it comes out that week? Not many. I don’t see how rotational playlists without the intent to implement them into the game are at all a good idea, especially when people just want to have a wide variety of choices and experiences but can’t due to some artificial way of expanding the games life.
I think 343 industries live a constant dilemma: They are very talented, but they can’t do new things if it goes different from what the community “want”. I feel this community, is very aversive to changes and if 343 just copy what has been done before, they aren’t doing nothing new and innovative.
