I thought the Coating system was gonna be like destiny at the time, now that we know its not the case…yikes.
I agree fully with what you’ve said
technically if you think about it, all Armour cores are costly, Mark VII’s stuff is in BP & the Store
Mark V is tied to the premium (though this makes more sense, seasonal themes and all)
and Yoroi…oh god Yoroi…one armour set and the variants you have to buy…why…and the progress thing has even more challenge rerolls & XP Boosters.
well I feel mighty tempted to uninstall now.
They want to make it fortnite, thats the problem.
Its the only reason any game goes free to play, they saw fortnite do it and make billions off selling overpriced skins to kids who dont yet realize the value of money and they want a piece of that cake.
Its the same reason halo 5 had req packs, at the time they were the best way to make money off the player, offer a ridiculous grind but a way to bypass it with money, now that those are hated they turn to the next horrible business model to try and make the next billion dollars off of.
Halo players are smarter then that though, its good to see such pushback from the community.
They want to make players payers, they want you to open the game and contemplate buying something everytime you open it, they want you to look at all the cool armour they designed and say to yourself “its only 25$, its not really that much” until youve spent over 1500$ on skins as i have in apex.
I play halo because i know i dont have to break the bank to feel cool and unique, unlike every other game i play and sink money into, i had hopes that i could sit and play infinite and not a virtual shopping mall

Game is honestly just trash
This might be the one game I just find a style I like and never change it, which is a shame really. It’s nice to mix things up every now and then. Hopefully this gets changed down the road after enough people become logically vocal and constructively criticize their displeasure with it. Fingers crossed.
@HotNWetMess Yeah I don’t know what Microsoft thought they were trying to pull when they pushed that onto the table. But I’m not breaking bank to look like some people do in Warframe with all their Prime armor pieces and bought Ephemeras and their bought color palettes, and what not. I mean, at least Warframe gives you an ability to earn in game currency rather than just pay for everything, but I think the current monetization system in Infinite needs to not just take a step back but completely off stage altogether.
We shouldn’t have to open our wallets for basic armor that should be free. If it’s a promo deal then sure, fine, whatever. But I don’t know what our armor system really looks like since I haven’t unlocked much yet. But if it’s like how some people are claiming, it’s a huge disappointment.

Warframe is an amazing example of f2p done right, ive been steadily playing it since it launched on xbox one and i have over 5 prime frames without spending a dime, i have as much content as someone who breaks bank every update and thats just from grinding events and raids with friends.
Its such a simple fix, add a way ingame to earn currency alla reach for instance, give 25 credits a win and like 5 for a loss, not only incentivizes winning the game but you actually get rewarded for your time playing.
The only reason people stuck around for 5 was to grind, the only people you saw on halo 5 past 2017 were people grinding req packs or for sr152, all these casuals that 343 is trying to bank on spending money are not going to stick around for as long as they think and when the long term players have no reason to play, the game dies.
Which is why halo 5 is dead and mcc is alive, it provides a grind with meaningful reward for time spent.
This games multiplayer has already lost as much goodwill as halo 5s, without that many arnt going to stick around much after beating the story, they really didnt plan this for longterm, it feels like a cash grab at the best of times and a horrible marketing choice pushed by execs to milk players at every corner at the worst of times.
I hope they can fix it before its too late

Yeah Warframe’s does f2p with monetization a lot better. The only things you can’t outright buy with plat you earn is things that ultimately have 0 impact on anything but your looks. Well, that and Amps, but that’s fine lol. I have literally every Warframe without spending a dime with the exception of one new Prime that I bought with real money because I liked the armor that came with it. That was a choice I made because it was something I wanted. But even if I hadn’t bought it, I’d still have been able to get the Warframe and its weapons without much hassle.
I’m not sure how much control 343 has over things like that, that seems more like a Microsoft choice, but like I said, I don’t actually know what reaches 343 actually has or what they can impact with their decisions. But if it is a 343 decision, I really hope it does a 180 before it’s too late. Maybe just do a version of what Warframe does, idk, but definitely don’t stick with what they’ve got right now.

As someone who has played Warframe, that is a massive example of what a F2P game SHOULD be. Kudos on using it as an example for Halo Infinite’s MP should be striving for.

I was actually playing with the idea that Halo Infinite’s MP should’ve been open world. With how they were going with the whole “Your Spartan, your choice” thing. Kinda like Mass Effect/Warframe, wherein Infinite you’d have a Prowler or ship and be sent by ONI/UNSC to perform missions to various planets as a Spartan/ODST/Marine. They could even have done special campaigns with this, centering around your MP’s Spartan. It’s kinda what they wanted to do with Spartan Ops but failed at. It would’ve been expandable, in both lore/canon too.
That’d be one heck of a change, I’ve never really played the Mass Effect games, tried 3 and kind of gave up on it. But yeah, I can see something like Warframe’s f2p + MTX’s working a lot better than their current design here. Though open world I’m not sure how that would work since I don’t recall ever playing a game where the MP was open world.
No this is true. The community does go back and forth with 343 a lot and truly this happens every release. Its safe to say that in 2 years this multiplayer will one of the best Halo mp’s out there, but THAT is what feels like a betrayal.
This doesn’t even begin to bring in the fact that they have had 6 years to work on this game. That’s how long it has been since Halo 5.
Technically, the way they have Infinite right now. Infinite’s MP ‘is’ the game, while the campaign is a DLC. Therefore, it would be redesigning the MP into its own thing. While having the campaign as the standalone main story. Again, this was just something I thought would’ve been pretty cool. Maybe if we ever get another Halo game 10+ years down the line, it’ll be in that format.

I should mention if Halo DID go that route. With an open world, that I hope it didn’t go down like Destiny and was actually good.
Oh, they’re listening alright. But they’re also silencing.
Recently a thread questioning some of their recent decisions was locked, which ironically proved the point of the whole -Yoink!- post. But I bet you they’ll have trouble handling the deluge of riots when the masses finally realize Co-Op and Forge were delayed even further.

Why are people so asshurt about a cosmetic progression system when there’s so many actual gameplay issues such as…
No friendly fire
No collision
Lower ttk
ADHD run and gun thoughtless gameplay
Nade spam due to no FF
Headshot bonus on autos
Headshot bonus even on shields???
Pissweak vehicles
Terrible explosions and vehicle physics
Awful shotgun
No region lock
Weapons despawn in 2 seconds
BTB is an absolute mess
Scope glare for no reason other than as a crutch for players with no awareness
Oddball and flag don’t 1 hit
Cringey opening cutscene to every match that I can’t skip
Fire effects that look like they’re from Halo CE
Plasma pistols lost EMP
Pistol and AR don’t get descoped
Control is a -Yoink!- gamemode
Debris not interacting with players
Join in progress is a joke, I don’t want to be put into a game where I’m getting bummed before I have a chance to even start (and on top of that there’s no rejoin feature after a crash? Why implement join in progress if you can’t rejoin a game you were previously in???)
But yeah the cosmetic -Yoink!- is the big issue
TBF I love the abilities and the shock rifle, skewer etc. That’s about it. I wanted badly to enjoy this bit it’s not halo, it’s Halo lite.
And a progression system to make people get fancy skins and get their daily dopamine isn’t going to fix the game

Honestly, a lot of us are fine with much of that. We want to have a rewarding experience, which we are not getting. As for the descoping, I have been wanting that gone since the early games. Happy to finally be able to aim properly. But you do raise some great points. Like the vehicles being weaker, headshot behavior being bad, oddball/flag no 1-hit kill, etc. As for plasma pistol, the function was replaced with the Disruptor pistol. But I too would like that functionality back. As that is a signature move of the plasma pistol.
None of us are saying there isn’t room for necessary improvement/tweaks in other areas. Just that the lack of a proper progression system should be the priority.

It should be noted, I’d like to have a proper female gender as one of the body types. But I’m putting this aside in favor of pushing my concern about the Progression system.

Gameplay should always trump pretend cosmetic progression.
And a lot of those things I mentioned are what’s killing this game slowly by turning into another generic overly fast spammy shooter. I wouldn’t mind if they kept the movement the way it is, but out back in the older ttks from reach etc.
But the way the game is now it’s basically a hybrid cod with slightly more health.
Descoping is a balancing mechanic and should never go away, that’s part of what -Yoink!- Halo 4 up. Adding scope glare is the dumbest thing ever, snipers were already penalised by losing radar, why punish zooming in more, it’s just to promote memey quickscoping and punish people for actually taking the time to snipe
Alot of people don’t like these things too dude, just 343 puts them in anyway because they’re new trends and act as a crutch for bad players.
Like removing friendly fire and Collison.
No one asked for scope glint, we got it, but only because they’re trying to turn the game into the same generic -Yoink!- I used to play halo to avoid.
Anyone got a spare few mill so I can develop a hybrid of halo 3 and reach with more movement and some fairer armor abilities?

I would take that it only took 3 days to apply the as you called it “band aid” as a good sign Obviously they can’t just instantaneously change everything and make it perfect and anyone who seriously thinks they can or expects them to Obviously isn’t acting in good faith
343 listens, but if MCC has shown anything they are unbearably slow, refusing to deal with anything non gamebreaking until a new season drops

A lot of those things I also dislike. And I have complained about. I want Halo Infinite to be the best game it can. I think it could be my favorite Halo with some tweeks. So I’m gonna voice my concerns about things I’m not okay with, and praise the things I am. Others are the same in that regard I believe. Looks like a lot of people are not okay with the progression. Them voicing their concerns about it isn’t them saying other issues shouldn’t be addressed. At least, I don’t believe it is.
