At the announcement of this game I found myself like many others in awkward state of shock with a mix of excitement and confusion.
Than 343 began to drop there vid docs and all of a sudden that confusion lead to hype. The lighting and updated engine with a new take on dated multiplayer that has much success in what it does well I was getting pumped, but now not so much. What im hearing is disgusting, has the game community not learned form EAs -Yoink- model of handling online content? Have they not learned from mass effects failures? Apparently not, a 100 dollar limited edition is essentially a medal case with some artsy stuff that important in all special edition packages, some weapon and armor specs and of course the wonderful avatar awards, and now here comes the good bag the selling point of adding 40 dollars to the 60 dollar price tag, a pre release map pack that includes wait for it…9 maps yea 9 maps. So what your telling me is instead of putting those maps in the game you decided to make your team put a hold on the maps they where making for a game and move all or a part of the online art and production teams to making these for DLC content? Really I might be able to accept like 3 or 4 maps with all that stuff but your adding 9 maps 6 months away from when the game drops instead of just putting them in the damn game? Also, whats this im hearing about an online pass for Spartan Ops if this happens we have lost halo, our game designers we have come to know and love gave the community its game at a value and have fun doing so. This is -Yoink- and excuse my language guys im just frustrated. Now I could be wrong about the online pass but if they dont add some limited edition Battle Rifles in the Special package im not buying a 100 dollar game, sorry.
You couldn’t be more wrong. You get the maps, once they are made and released. Do you think they are sitting on 9 maps just waiting? No.
They may have map concepts, but it’s not like they’re being hoarded.

This is how I understood it as well.
343 has already set themselves up for failure. H4 will die out quicker than Reach did.
They get rid of the foundation that Bungie set up, change all of what Bungie came up with, and steal ideas from Modern Warfare and Gears 3.

Same here

So did Call of Duty way back in the day, they stole plenty from Halo. Look where they are now. I’m not advocating ripping the whole CoD series off, but things that work are noted and used by others. That is how video games evolve.
Whos making you buy the limited edition? The answer is no one, but before I go on…

For the love of Talos use paragraphs…PLEASE!!
The 9 maps aren’t for Day 1 DLC. Read for you post, The DLC will come later in the future so the day the maps get released, the limited edition people will be able to get the DLC on on the day the DLC gets released for free. But before I go on, remember there is 9 maps for the map pack? When has Halo EVER come out with 9 maps? I think thats a very logical price for 9 maps. Also you know nothing of how Game Developers work, They can have a specific team working on the DLC while the rest of the team works on Halo 4. The online pass you are talking about doesn’t even exist. Halo will never have an online pass for anything. Spartan Ops comes free with Halo 4, and 343 is unsure if they are going to charge for the next set of Spartan Ops.

Cod did not steal anything from Halo buddy. They are completely different games, complete polar opposites. But Halo4 will feel like Cod.

COD didn’t steal anmything from Halo?
The theater feature in MW3.
The cR system in Black Ops.

You have demonstrated complete disregard for even the most basic of protocols.

Halo 4 can’t/will not be as bad as Reach.
Cod did not steal anything from Halo. Cod has much differnent game types, different rank system, different controls, different guns, aim system, kill streaks rather than medals, knife instead of melee (except the OLD cod’s), etc. etc. etc.

H4 will die out quicker then Reach did? Um you haven’t seen BO2 have you? That’s a damn carbon copy of Future Soldier. Black Ops took the CR system from Reach, as MW3 took theater mode. COD stole ideas from Halo. If 343 can balance the elements from COD and improve them, the game will be fine.

Did you seriously just say that COD stole nothing from Halo?
hahahaha you’ve gotta be kidding me, of course they did.
Examples: Theater Mode, Changeable Emblems, Clan Tags, etc.

if you honestly think about it (or how i see it at least) games since the beginning have been copying/taking ideas in some form of way from each other. though it has become more apparent it still was there

Switching to the two gun limit Halo set a precedent for.
More robust matchmaking system.
More functional control schemes.
Regenerating health.
Halo set forth these type of innovations for the entire genre of first person shooters and Call of Duty took notes. I’m sorry your gaming history is dusty, but it’s the truth.

halo CE pretty much set the bar for how a FPS should work but when one game does a feature that works others have it such as aim down sights yes call of duty has it but so does every other shooter from fallout to borderlands and they work great in those games halo not so much. still no need to be pessimistic seriously you can look at what we have learned on paper and instantly jump the gun and scream COD or you can wait to see what halo 4 is really about in 20 days.

You are just wrong. The innovations Halo brought to the console market are in Call of Duty. Denying that is just ignorance. Facts are facts.
Just to let you know, every game company “steals” from each other. What’s so wrong with using a good idea?
I steal stuff from bs angel all the time to use with my community. It’s a very common practice, actually. Build upon the successes of others.
