I have been playing doubles. Doubles brings issues to the forefront quick. Boltshot, Railgun, and Sniper are literally pull the trigger to kill weapons. That is a problem. In infinity slayer there are even more of these weapon
The sniper was just as easy on Reach some I’m not going to attack 343 on that. But, it needs way way way more recoil and way way way less ammo.
The boltshot is a repeat of the sawed off on gears of war. You do not spawn players with insta kill weapons.
The railgun probably is the easiest gun to use on the game (besides god cannon). It almost has an autoaim. If you keep your reticle within remote distance it says you hit them. Rockets are a much better choice because there is a way to beat them. Go Aerial. But, THERE IS NO WAY TO BEAT A RAIL GUN. Especially on the pro variant. They should call doubles team get the railgun. It literally is the ultimate gamechanger that spawns before the user runs out of ammo with the first one.
I really think 343 got AA’s right and failed with OD’s and putting campaign weapons in muiltiplayer. I am a classic halo fan. None of the AA’s should be taken out of pro besides INVIS, REGEN, and the MINI TURRET. I think the rest of the AA’s make combat more diverse. I am the classic halo fan. But, we need these AA’s in the “pro variant”. They don’t break the game like Reach. But, 343 use rockets as the power weapon. You can use sniper but limit it to 4 shots or so. Power weapons are supposed to be map moving encouragers not gamechangers
So in reality, only 1 thing is an issue and that is the Boltshot; the other 2 are things that both require skill to use and require skill to get. Enemy team got it before you? Tough luck; they’re better than you.
I never realised until I started playing doubles how OP the Railgun actually is. The projectile it fires is almost a homing missile. The only real skill to it is in timing the charge and in very long range kills. I wish they would remove the magnetism entirely but maybe increase the projectile speed slightly to compensate and on a side note do more damage to vehicles.
Railgun takes no skill at all. Least skilled weapon to the God cannon. It is beyond easy to use. Even missing is rare. The only fix is to replace it with spartan laser. It is a more skilled version of the railgun. The railgun shouldn’t have splash damage. It also has some sort of magnetism going on. Sometimes my aim is off and I hit people in the face

no, railgun is one shot reload so if you miss your done, boltshot is not sawed off and it isn’t gears btw. Plus the gnasher was just as OP it had too much range, beside the point, yes the boltshot has too much range. Sniper is really friendly with aim assist but still there is skill involved, but I agree power weapons encourage camping in this game.
Yeah you get punished if you miss one shot. The problem is nobody misses that 1 shot. I would say in doubles each shot has about a 75% or greater kill chance. Jumping and strafing does nothing…NOTHING. I do not see missing very often. If they do the splash damage usually gets you and they finish you off with something else. There is no downside to the gun. This is a fact. Play doubles and you will see first hand that it revolves around the rail gun. Rockets are a worse choice for a player to use than a railgun. Jetpack/ jumping can fight rockets. What fights railgun? Especially in doubles pro
? Absolutely nothing.
The sniper is like a long range shotgun. Go play halo 3 and you would miss 3/4 of your shots with the sniper (assuming you use it like the halo 4 one)
I compare the boltshot to the sawed off because of the blast radius. It is not as severe as the sawed off obviously. But, your aim can be off and still get the instakill
The sniper pisses me off in doubles its way too easy for people to use especially how you don’t even get zoomed out when shot soooo cheap. I really notice the extreme annoyance of the sniper on scythe out of all the doubles maps
I think the real issue here is the boltshot as a loadout weapon and the sniper having like 16 bullets.
One sniper has enough ammo to get more than half of the kills in a team doubles game. If a team can get one sniper, it can swing the battle so majorly and the only gun that can contest it is the DMR, which I refuse to spawn with since it shoots all of the way across the freaking map and has UBER aim assist up to 105 meters. Where is the logic?
My biggest problem with many of the weapons is the aim assist and bullet magnetism. Now I get how it helps deal with lag and controllers being inaccurate at times, but this is just a little too much! Hopefully the TU will look into the sheer overkill of assistance, as it’s just too easy to grab kills right now.

You forgot the Beam Rifle. It’s so easy to no-scope with the weapon it basically has a kill time of like .5 seconds.
Railgun- 343i needs to nerf the bullet magnetism, so there can be some sort of technique to avoid it. There is a way to avoid all other power weapons except for the Railgun. Fix it.
Boltshot- 343i, I like the idea, but it needs a little work. I have three ideas that might make this weapon more balanced.
Decrease the bullet magnetism and auto aim, and make the spread of bullets the size of the DMR’s reticle.
Decrease range to where you have to be at point blank to kill.
Make it a 2sk, but make it charge responsibly quicker, (I think it should kill slightly faster than a double melee.) that way the player with boltshot will have to hit two shots, and the other player will have time to run, or go for a melee.
Sniper- I’m pretty bad at the H4 sniper so I have no business discussing its properties.
343i, please, please, balance the primary precision weapons. The DMR is killing all the other primaries.
I think you should make the DMR resemble the Halo: Reach DMR (Yes, bloom and all), and reduce its bullet magnetism and red reticle range respectively.
Also, I am a huge carbine fan, and was hurt pretty bad when I noticed that you guys had pretty much thrown it the bus. Please, please, please, make it a 7sk with headshot. And if you do, I’ll throw in a couple of thank you’s to balance out all the please’s.

The railgun is fine. It has almost no splash damage unless it explodes really close. Would you rather have rockets on the maps? At least with the railgun you can only kill one player at a time. With the rocket launcher you can get a double kill easily if the enemies are anywhere near each other.
That being said, team doubles is all about teamwork. If your teammate gets killed by the railgun and you’re actually working together it should be relatively easy to take him out.

The boltshot just needs to get its range toned down to a shotguns. The boltshot is good for when someone is rushing you to try and melee, or when you do not have any ammo. I remember when i was out of LR ammo and the bolshot really saved me.
The only thing that i do not like about the sniper is its ability to easily kill you with two shots. I blame this on its rate of fire and the absence of descoping
Not enough play-testing. Maulers were removed from maps on H3 due to balance - Epitaph, Guardian - and were not 1 hit kill. Design choices are wrong and need to be balanced in TU.
Spartan Laser is a much more elegant choice than Railgun.
I hit 90% of my shots with it. I even manage to hit when my crosshair isn’t on the enemy.
It needs fixed.

It single handedly ruins CQC, makes the automatics except the AR pointless, and rewards you for doing nothing.

honestly I agree with the rail being to OP. My bud and I dont miss with that thing. But I only think its OP for doubles, if you got experts using that thing its pretty hard to miss. I know
