I wonder how many lore fans instantly clicked this thread because of the title. I hope alot because I’m assuming that many people who see this thread don’t want to be joshed around so I’m just going to skip to the point and just two questions.
What are the limits of imitation?
AND
What is the peak of innovation?
Two questions I have to ask because we all love Halo, we all have standards and for too many of us those standards haven’t been meet. Clearly after Halo 4’s numbers dropped and 343i alluding to Halo 5’s sales saying “It’s the best halo game since 3.” Which basically means it’s better then Reach and 4. Insert obviously sarcastic “WOW” here. Also ignore the obvious marketing I guess, success that in no way inflated the numbers.
Anyways it’s clear to us all that Halo has taken many aspects of other games and they too from Halo. Which is honestly making me think we should all trade titles but whatever. The two questions are the big part about this thread and I want to talk to you all to see if we can answers them.
Scope jumping was pretty innovative if you ask me… you don’t see other games doing that.

You mean like Borderlands or Tribes? Or do you mean hover hover while you scope in. Many others have done this before as well like SWBF and another game I just can’t remember the name of.
Well the thread title currently says “intimation” which is something different than imitation, so I was a bit confused, but now I see what you mean. Personally, I think as long as a feature works well within Halo, it doesn’t matter if it was originally innovated or imitated. Since I don’t play other shooter games, I wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference.

Like this…
Very cool concept… I do it all the time without auto-stabilize also. It’s not necessary…

That’s doesn’t seem like a purposeful addition it just seems like a player tactic. That’d be like praising Bungie for grenade jumping. Even then it has existed in other mech based games thought slightly different. Typically mech based ones when you need to jump up hard tor each building you’d ram into it and keep jumping and boosting until you got to your desired level. It work’s like The Butterfly just by yourself. It’s not the same thing exactly but it’s just another strategy to get up on a higher position. Also crouching jump serves the same purpose of it which is again not a commendable addition since the games weren’t likely developed around it.

Noooo this definitely allows for more height and movement options than a crouch jump…

Vehicle boarding/jacking was pretty cool, and being able to switch seats in vehicles without getting out is as well…alot of stuff was borrowed, but halo 4 completely imitated other games more then any other halo game

I’m not saying it doesn’t I’m saying it’s likely not an intentional design but just players being so good that they’ve changed mechanics to fit their needs.
Want imitation?
Look at COD infinate warfare…
blatent HALO imitation.
Pellicans, jorge, reach wallpaper copy, trailer has a practical fx chief knockoff.
And more…

I don’t want imitation, I was asking what are it’s limits since art is alot of the times pulled from similar sources and some times not on purpose.
