Involve The Community With Development

I said it before and I want to say it again, 343i should involve the community in a dynamic way with the next Halo’s development, and not “being a silent observer”, to our suggestions.

There are many ways I can think of that you can use the community to your advantage, since it seems you can easily make advert popups in game when you start it up, you could easily crowd-source information through an online multiple choice, using the popup advert to make everyone aware that they should throw their two cents in, and use a MS point lottery system, like once you complete the questionnaire you have a chance of winning ‘X’ points.

Beyond that, you should have the community vote on things that can influence the game. I know this is your game, but it’s your game that you make for us, and keeping us more involved might be better than being secluded during the whole development, saying it’s the next big thing and it will blow our socks off, but then miss a heck of a lot of content and little features because you didn’t properly test the game and involve the community. Looking at the past patches and additions it is very evident of that fact.

The majority of players are bad decision makers.
Most people I know like Sprint, Active Camo, Personal Ordnance, etc.
I’d prefer 343 asked online communities like Waypoint, Halo4Nation, etc. about important issues.

Many people can be bad decision makers, but say you look at the two groups on Halo Waypoint who call the people who complain and dislike the game a “Minority”, and feel that they are part of a majority that like the game, but what they do not understand is we both are minorities on the forums and cannot represent the community.

So that’s why I suggested the crowd-sourcing. It would include waypoint, r/halo and all other halo-affiliated sites.

They could also do adverts on the dashboards, perhaps to targeted ads for those who have past and present Halo achievements, and advertise on xbox.com.

The thing they really need to do is to get as many of us and take a quick snapshot of our preferences. Make it short, concise and get as much useful information out of us as possible.

I just don’t want 343i to pull another pre-launch Halo 4, hype the hell out of the game but it flops half a year after launch. I can recall Frankie explaining the Flagnum gametype, and how there was a demand for a classic gametype, but they weren’t adding it pre-launch, stating that if we wanted it, they will add it post-launch if we wanted it bad enough.

Thinking like that I find it backwards, why selectively choose what goes in and doesn’t go in, knowing full well people will want it, especially for customs, but say, “We won’t add this because we want you to play our new stuff first and foremost, and we will think about adding it later.”
