I’ve been watching Machinima’s livesteam and I’m disappointed. 343 told us that this invisible skill system would have a stricter system when it comes to matching players of similar skill. Then how come, I keep seeing SR 8’s and 16’s getting matched with damn SR’s 39’s and 40’s, which is exactly how Reach’s system worked. If this is honestly how this new trilogy’s system is going to work, I will only get Halo 5 and 6 for the Campaign, and that’s it. I hated Reach’s random matching system and I don’t have to even play the damn game when I can see it in plain sight.
And to be quite, honest. I’m starting to wish we had 1-50 back and I’m not even competitive.
Barely any people have Halo 4 right now, for one. It matches with whoever it can find.
Also, it could be a case of the SR-39’s simply playing more and being the same skill as those 8’s.

If this is the case then ok, but it’d better not be like that come launch.
Early 2013 we are getting the 1-50 scale back and honestly that pushed me from maybe getting halo 4 to I would pre order it in an instant if I wasn’t going to be out of town the whole week.

That shouldn’t matter though Moa. I am going to try it myself but still, the system should work no matter what number of people are playing it. Infinity Slayer and BTB have over a hundred players in it right now.

Just wondering, is that simply hyperbole or is that realistic? It sounds fantastic.

Right, let’s say there is eight people playing King of the Hill and it is a 4v4 playlist, how do you expect it to find games of similar skill when there is simply not enough players to find people on your skill level?
This is the main reason why Arena was a failure in Reach, not enough people played it, the bad settings to begin with threw people off it and the changes were too late to draw players back.
i know this nothing to do with what your talking about but i need an answer can i play the disc 1 of halo 4 complete the campaign then install disc 2 or will i be forced to install disc 2 before i can play anything

Disc 2 is purely for multiplayer.
So you can play the campaign entirely without worrying about installing anything.

Reach had over 1 million people during the first week of it’s launch.
Not to mention that I doubt that your skill has anything to do with where you are in the progression system.
OH, and btw…
Expect to have some pretty uneven matches in the first few weeks, or at least, in the first month from launch. Everyone’s starting to play a new game. So everyone will be everywhere in the TrueSkill tree.
What are you talking about? The game has been in the hands of a very limited population for a very short amount of time. The skill system wouldn’t fully be active yet. Even on launch with a million plus people on it’ll take a while for the system to gain momentum. Calm down. It’s doing what it can right now.
