The RTX event was just plain chock full of awesome. Awesome mp footage, lots of laughs, and great forge updates. 343i had my respect with everything they were doing. Then, Frankie goes on and confirms that ranks will be invisible to others---- Worst News Ever. This is literally the worst move 343i can pull with the online community, imo.
Honestly, what is the point of ranks if you can’t show them off to let people know of your accomplishments?! What incentive is there now?? …Sure, you could say that fun is the only thing that should matter, but I don’t think that way. I play for entertainment, but it’s the ranks and displaying them to my friends and other players that keeps me going. I’m sorry, 343i, but you have hugely disappointed me this time.

Ehm…
Unlocking new armor?
Simply winning? (after all: THAT’S a real competative mindset)
Unlocking the weapons and stuff for loadouts?
If a number is your incentive to play good…that’s actually a really sad thing.

We are having a proper ranking system in Halo 4 but yet you all are still claiming that it will fail simply because you cant see other player’s ranks nor do you have any bragging rights about your own rank?

> > I honestly do not know what to think about this community. Shouldn’t you be happy that YOU(keyword) are still able to visibly SEE your progress and rank? Who cares if you can’t determine if you won against a higher rank than you. You still won didn’t you? Isn’t that enough incentive to still keep playing better and achieve a higher rank?

People definatley need to chill out about this. It’s kind of halarious that so many people have their -Yoink!- in a bunch over this.
Not being able to see everyone’s rank is not a big deal. Seeing your own should be satisfying enough.
To all the losers that are upset because they can’t show off their rank and rub it in everyone’s face, get over it. I’ve personally neither been impressed nor intimidated by anyone’s “rank” because I’ve smashed on inheritors and “50s” countless times. My point is seeing someone’s rank does not tell you how skilled they are.
What’s important about a rank system is that it does it’s job in matching people that around the same skill level so matches are competitive. Hopefully it will achieve this. When it comes down to it, that’s really all that matters.
> I think flaunting your skills in a match is a better display of skill than a number that can easily be boosted.

> Anyone can talk like they got a 50(or whatever the max rank is). Few can fight like one.

> To be honest, I’d rather have a rank system similar to what WoW does: It never ends, and players can pass you if you don’t play. But that’s just me.
This, all the way. If people so happen to underestimate me in H4, my BR bullet to their visor will be the last thing that they see.
GOOD. It gives the people who genuinely want a rank to strive for what they want.
I can’t think of ANY reason to have a visable rank, as boosting even being as viable as it is throws the whole point of having a 50 out the window anyway.
