After having heard that Frankie and the team were mulling over the idea of having invisible ranks in Halo 4, I was a little taken aback and surprised. I know that everyone will have their own separate opinions on this matter. As for me, I’m not too keen on invisible ranks.
After having read so many this community’s reactions, I drew up a little fix to 343i’s idea: HAVE INVISIBLE RANKS FOR SOCIAL SLAYER OR PLAYLISTS THAT DON’T DETERMINE YOUR RANK AND SHOW RANKS FOR COMPETITIVE PLAYLISTS THAT ACTUALLY DETERMINE OR BOOST/BRING DOWN YOUR OVERALL RANK.
I haven’t though it through much, but, what say you?

Im still confused if what Frankie meant to say skill based rank will be hidden but the captain colonel general rank ect will still be showing? I don’t know what will be invisible… Any help? But I do support your idea btw

It hasn’t been 100% confirmed yet, but I’m guessing, judging from the remarks and topics around the forums, that the rank Frankie was referring to was the actual numbered rank, such as the “A-7” we saw earlier in that smart glass trailer at e3 2012.
yeah i think he was talking about the actual numbering rank. What valhallan said above pretty much.

yeah, thanks! I just want 343i to clarify what frankie meant.
The system is the same as Halo Reach’s. The 1-50 system is invisible and is used for trueskill. The only difference is that you are the only one that can see the rank.
Why do you need the rank to be shown? Does it really matter that much? E-Peen issues?

I would hope 343i doesn’t do invisible Ranks / Although if they did I would support this idea .
Also what about having the option to SHOW or HIDE your Rank from others – That might work
