bring invasion back 343, its a great game mode that constantly makes you switch tactics and adapt to the situations. you don’t need to programme or design elites back in, Spartan v Spartan will do. I know this wont appeal to all but there’s definitely a huge fan base out there.
No, not really…it was basically dead in Reach, and those who did play it only did it because they found out how to break the maps.
Also I dont know what game of Invasion you were playing but I only ever remember a chaotic brawl during the last portion of it. No tactics or adaptation, just grab the most powerful weapons and spam.
Oh, and tank camping.
Agreed, there is actually a invasion mode made from forge but i cant remember who made it.
I never played Reach, can someone please explain what Invasion is? Thank you.
I don’t think Invasion would be the same if it was just Spartans vs Spartans. Elites are what made it have that unique feel to it.

It was Elites(blue) vs Spartans(red) who had to capture two checkpoints to get further in the map that had a core you have to deliver and with each capture of the checkpoints. It unlocked loadouts with armor abilities and higher tiers of weaponry and vehicles and if you grab the core you had to deliver it to a certain area to win and it was two rounds for both teams to switch species in defense or offense. So there you have a brief summary of invasion. It was fun but, people always found a way to exploit the spawn or vehicles specifically, the banshee.

Who said we couldn’t just turn WZA into a 2 rounded type gamemode, similar to the invasion point system? I think that could work out.
Granted, it wouldn’t be real invasion with power/nav cores and bombs as alternative objectives, but it would still be nice to try out in terms of a refresh. Maybe update the maps with side-objectives to help boost the team’s req level? (E.G. Capping/defending a base under a certain amount of time, getting a certain amount of kills as a team.)

TBH I think I would prefer that over Reach’s Invasion. At least then there wouldn’t be a scramble for a few spawned vehicles and complete chaos…well, at least not ENTIRE chaos.
Maybe we even could add in bomb/extraction versions. Literally make it Warzone Assault.

The similarities between WZA and invasion are pretty extensive. They are both branching objective game types with a similar round structure. They both have relatively set spawns and the defenders have an advantage on the inset. You do still try to capture points (though you have to clear out enemies from them and they are much larger now) and the final round is ‘Destroy the pillar’ instead of CTF.

That isn’t accurate. I never once had trouble getting a game of invasion. It was one of the most popular playlists for years and you can still get a game in it.

That doesn’t really describe it either. There were quite a few tactical elements. Trying to capture a point or cause enough of a distraction for your teammates to do so, deciding to position yourself in a place that would benefit you in the next round, managing to get the core back to the retrieval point or set up a solid defense. I played quite a bit of invasion as well.

Invasion was one of the two game types in the invasion playlist in reach. There were two teams. One set to defend the other to attack. If you are attacking you would attempt to capture one of two points on the map which would open up the objective. The next objective would be either capturing more points/a game of assault etc. If you manage to complete that objective. The third objective would spawn which would be CTF with the flag being remodeled to a ‘core.’ You would gain access to different loadouts and weapons/vehicles would spawn as you progressed through the objectives. After you captured the core or time ran out the two sides would switch with the attackers defending and vice versa.
I enjoyed invasion. I would like that game mode back.

Yes, I’d rather have elites too but I’d rather have some invasion with spartan v spartan then none at all.

Also, don’t forget people who play red team tend to walk all the way to blue team’s spawn point to steal a Banshee. If red team get the banshee, almost guaranteed win if the pilot and team are good and execute their defense properly.

Hasn’t changed much in any Halo game beyond it either…well except for 4, they toned the Banshee down quite a bit.
Hm… I know Halo 5’s Forge can read the health and destruction state of objects, and keep track of what players are near an object (even on a per-team basis). The scripting system is extremely clunky and fairly unreliable, though – probably the most difficult script engine I’ve ever tried to work with – so it’d take an experienced Halo 5 Forger to pull it off. Still, I can at least see Generator Defense and Territories-style objectives being possible. Everything would have to be configured map-side, though, which would make testing different timings very cumbersome.
Unfortunately, Bro Spawning isn’t really possible without being hardcoded, and that was a pretty important part of the gametype as well. Loadouts are pretty much impossible as well.

Eh I didn’t play invasion for the elites I never really cared for them I just liked it cause it was a little different than the other big game modes but still had those incorporated in it as well

What? Thats a bold statment to make don’t you think?
Let me assure you that not everyone who played (and still plays ) invasion are troublesome cheaters and low lifes, in fact it’s quite the contrary. Many of my friends were dedicated to that playlist and absolutely addored it. I myself played it regularly and injoyed it. I almost never ran into the type of people you described, and that’s coming from someone who would play it for hours at a time.
I love invasion on Reach. Before 5, it was my most played playlist. It was pretty well balanced too. Banshees were a bit strong, but there were ways to fight it. Jet packs were wonderful in dodging the bombs since people were often over reliant on fuel rods.
Invasion was my favorite game type in Reach.
Warzone could maybe be considered the next iteration with it being a hybrid of Invasion/Firefight.
Invasion was so promising but let’s face it, aside from the Living Dead game mode, the amount of team quitters was beyond atrocious. If it were to be brought back, it would be so different that it would be unrecognizable to everybody who played it in Reach. Longer round times, more points/time needed to bring down the areas in order to move on to the next section, better loadouts, better maps, less use of vehicles, longer distance to capture the core, etc.
At the end of the day, yes, I really want to see Invasion make a return to Halo. Playable elites, 343i, come on guys and gals, let’s make that happen.
Mmm I know that the Elites are some that many people miss in the Halo franchise, but we really need it? Halo 5 is faster than any other Halo 5 game, but it is not the same as Halo 5. Halo game. Included the Elites again could unbalance the gameplay with the Spartan habilties. And, honestly, the Elites are weak in comparison with the Spartans, since Halo 3 to Reach. The shields and the resistance are low. I don’t think (and want) 343i could bring again the Elites to the gameplay.
But, maybe we could have some missions like Invasion.
The actual firefight are… ok, but can get better in Halo 6 with random missions of some importance like kill any Brute Chief, any rebel kaidon, or whatever. The idea ins’t bad with the firefight in Halo 5, but they can get better.
