Why do the full parties always vote this when it comes up?
Why do they always end up on Spartan team?
Why are there mid-field spawns to constantly harass the enemy?
Why isn’t the Spartan mid-field spawn in the cave or trees if it’s needed?
Why is there no spawn inside the base instead?
Why are there respawning power-weapons (sniper rifle) on the map instead of solely from drop points?
Why is there no Ghost on first tier for Elites to scoot around with like in the Beta?
Why is Boneyard more fun and fair?
Why can’t I play this on Headlong/Breakneck or Ridgeline instead?
Just got out of a match where I got 44 kills and went majorly positive on the Elite team. The final score was 94 to 59. Spartans won. Something wasn’t right.
Team would lose sniper rifle, Spartans then get both. No ability to fight over initial drop points due to lack of range.
More snipers spawn in and now every enemy gets a sniper rifle. Suddenly our team is suppressed hardcore and nowhere to move.
Enemy snipers are sitting both on the far high cliff and also sitting behind our cliff.
Can’t spawn in or near base, so enemy easily sprints over and steals our sniper rifle.
Any enemies that are killed just come back at their mid field spawn. Cycle continues until end of game.
I’m fairly sure this scenario is not uncommon at all.
This is of course compared to playing Invasion Slayer on Boneyard right before. Final score was 100 to 95. Played as a Spartan but Elites won, was a very close game.
Basically, why so unfun?
There’s ways to make this map fun, but right now that doesn’t seem to happen unless the stars align and the Elite team is filled with highly trained crack commandos while Spartan team plays super cowardly.
Typically I would say that you lost your rifle and failed to retrieve it you deserve the punishment of being spawn killed but in invasion slayer the punishment has a snowball effect due to tier 3 weaponry spawning in the initial stage.
To fix invasion slayer weapon drops.
Stage 1 drops consist of light infantry weaponry
Humans:
Dmr
Grenade launcher
Shotgun?
Elites:
Needle rifle
Concussion rifle
Sword?
Stage 2 drop light ground vehicles and heavy support weapons
Humans:
Rockets
Laser
Warthog
Rocket warthog?
Elites
Plasma launcher
Focus rifle
Revenant
Ghost
Stage 3 drops heavy vehicles and heavy weapons
Humans:
Scorpion
Sniper/laser
Elites:
Wraith
Banshee
Fuel rod gun/ plasma launcher
With the maps that invasion slayer is currently on I believe that this is the correct order for drops to progress.
The reason that invasion slayer is currently one sided is the sniper is in at stage 1 when it is a 3rd tier weapon. Moving the sniper to being a 3rd stage weapon would allow for elites to atleast have a tugging chance.
Hemmy needs some sort of infantry variant, with structures dotted around so there isnt so much dead space to be running across when there are no vehicles around. There are multiple gametypes which would benefit from this.

This would fix most of the imbalances, I remember throwing the idea around awhile ago too.
Plus, Invasion Skirmish has something similar with its initial drop zones awarding shotguns and grenade launchers, so it is possible. The gametype doesn’t need to be overly changed, but it should be balanced on more than just Boneyard.
Invasion Slayer on Hemorrhage isn’t fun because almost no Gametype on that map is fun. The only exception is I once played a game of BTB Elite Slayer on Hemorrhage, and it was insane! There was probably more chaos and confusion in that than in Heavies.
