Invasion needs to make a return

Warzone is nice and all but with wargames being canon, and the Swords of Sanghelios undoubtedly about to work further alongside the UNSC, I can see teams simulating Spartans vs Elites or Spartans and Elites vs OpFor. If not this, then maybe just including Elites in Warzone so players will want to buy more REQ packs to accomadate for customizable elite armor. More money for 343 so I don’t see why not.

So i wouldn’t mind invasions coming back and tweaked or just having elites being playable again but forget about req packs that whole part of the game needs to go.

I’m alright with the REQ packs, as long as they remain only exclusive to Warzone, and don’t lock cosmetic items such as armor permutations and emblems behind them, which in turn would make it feel a little less intrusive.

The best thing about invasion is that it could forged so even though I hope it would return with dev made maps they really just need to the gametype. Just please don’t make it pay to win

I think Invasion should return to fill the niche for big team Spartan vs Elites gameplay while Firefight fills the niche for survivalistic arcade gameplay. The 12v12 player count would work well for Invasion, with three squads of four players instead of three squads of two, and multiple objectives like mobile bases, payloads or randomized VIP targets in addition to the standard territory / flag.

That way, you please both crowds of people that were forced together through Warzone, and you give them far more options by opening up both to Custom Games where Warzone and its REQ system wouldn’t be able to.

I doubt we will see a return of invasion but maybe a variant of warzone that plays like invasion.

I thought OpFor was a CoD4 faction

It is. From cod4 I believe

While I wouldn’t mind invasion. We need to understand that invasion was a covenant vs humanity game. With the covenant defeated, as well as the storm covenant defeated invasion is kinda pointless lore wise the swords of sanghelios are on our side so we would be essentially fighting our allies. So again makes invasion lore wise pointless lets not break halo lore

yes of corse with Spartan/elite/flood and banished!

I would love to see the return of Invasion. 343 could expand on invasion with AI or have different objectives to the gametype. AI turrets on Phantoms to help protect spawns from being camped (like boneyard on Reach). Marines (or equivalent) to help defend points or the last point. AI leader to kill or escort to safety. Say on Spire once the UNSC breaches the shields and a Zealot wants to leave with the data collect. But the only way out is a Seraph parked at the unfinished AA gun base that the UNSC recently captured. Win or lose the next phased will begin once the Zealot dies or leaves. Or say its Invasion on Forge World (as an example) where you secured the Island, blew up the gate blocking the tunnel, and now enter Hemorrhage to be greeted by a scarab that you have to defeat. Covenant (banish or flood, remember when flood drove vehicles I member) have to defend the scarab. Maybe even a flood invasion where infected Spartans or elites try to break through a Covenant line (like Rtas Vadum in Halo 2) which would end with the Covenant having a last stand trying to hold out before phantoms arrive. Interesting new takes that adds both something new but also fun game elements.

All of matchmaking for Halo 4, 5, Halo Online, and Spartan Strike is simulations. As Spartan Strike has shown we can revisit the Human Covenant war as training simulations. “The tasks you can undertake as simulation trooper are perilous, suicidal! You will respawn, as every simulation trooper has before you! The Lore Keepers will have their lore intact.” Re-purpose Prophet of Mercy quote

If your worried about lore dont because It wouldn’t break lore it would be considered a training simulation just like multiplayer claims to be already. I mean it appears as though we are allies and have worked together in previous games so why not train together?

It’s not limited to Cod4, it’s just an abreviation for Opposing Forces. InfinityWard didn’t want to cause any controversy by naming a specific mid-eastern nation since the United States was at war with Iraq.

Invasion was one of the best gametypes in Halo. I’d take it over warzone any day.

You know what gametypes I think should return in Halo: Infinite?

  • Slayer (Free for all, Team, Elimination, SWAT, etc)
  • Invasion - Juggernaught (Standard, Stalker, etc.) - Capture the Flag - King of the Hill (Crazy King, etc.) - Territories/Strongholds/Dominion - Extraction - Oddball - Assault (Multi-bomb, Asymmetrical, Neutral, Grifball, Richochet, etc.) - Headhunters - Stockpile - Race (Rally, etc.) - Infection - VIP - Firefight (Versus, etc.) - Warzone (Warzone, Warzone Turbo, etc.)Yeah… So, that’s pretty much all of them. They’re all fun gametypes. Why should 343i leave any behind? Bring them all back. The only one I never really enjoyed was Breakout, but hey, people played it, so bring that one back too.

Yeah and now Invasion is dead in Reach. Grifball and a poor mans version of infection still exist but not the most unique mode to Reach. It’s a shame.

Just throw the whole req system away… if it must return PLEASE have it strictly for warzone and let me unlock my armor & rank up by playing in the normal playlists.

I want classic invasion back in the worst way, its my favorite gametype of all time.
