So, one of the gametypes I would love to see make a return is Invasion. While I will say Warzone is like Invasion to some degree, it doesn’t have the exact same charm as it was Spartans vs Elites, not Spartans vs Spartans. Now I know that Elites aren’t playable in multiplayer, but that can change with a system update/dlc.
Below are a few reasons why I said Invasion 2.0 and some of these ideas come from playing Star Wars Battlefront 2.
-
Cutscenes
I like how at the beginning of multiplayer matches in Halo 5 Guardians and other games that have multiplayer, they have a little cutscene and show off the players. Now, for the cutscenes in Invasion, if Elites are the ones invading, they could come in a Phantom, Spirit, or Drop Pod and when they jump out, they roar or brush off heir armor while Spartans grab weapons off racks and gear up. If Spartans are the ones invading, they could come in a Pelican while the Elites watch them land and roar as they charge forward. (I was sort of thinking something like the Banished Elite in Halo Wars 2 who energizes his sword and roars with Ghosts rushing past him.) And when it ends, If the Elites steal the objective, they board a phantom and watch as the base gets destroyed by a Cruiser’s beam with UNSC dying from explosions or being vaporized, but if they lose, the Phantoms are shot down and the Banished are killed. And if the Humans steal the objective, the Pelicans fly off and the Banished base is destroyed by missiles from Infinity or Longswords, but if they lose, then Banshees destroy the Pelicans and the Banished gun down/slash/crush the humans. -
Massive Player Roster
This gametype as well as Warzone could have the largest roster or gametype to have the most players in a match. It could be like 24-40 players at one time. -
AI Assist
I wouldn’t mind having some AI support. For the humans, it could be Marines and for the Banished it could be Grunts and/or Jackals. However, as the game goes on, the AI get more difficult. Marines become ODSTs and Grunts and Jackals become Elites and Jackals, and maybe Brutes. And by the end, ODSTs become Spartan IVs and the Banished reach the level of Elites, Brutes, and Hunters. -
Gear
Like in Halo: Reach Invasion, each side a different armor abilities, but I guess now it’s being called Gear or Equipment. Anyway, Banished can have Cloak and Humans have Grappling Hooks. IDK. -
REQ/Point System
So, I’m sure everyone knows that the REQ system isn’t the best as it was pretty much pay to win. However, what if it was an in-game/in-match point system and you get points by Kills, Kill Assists, Headshots, Sprees, Doing the Objective, etc. And the more points you rack up, the more weapons and vehicles you can unlock and use, but there are of course a limited amount of vehicles on the battlefield. And like in Warzone, you can get the upgraded versions of said weapons and vehicles, but they cost more to access/use. Of course, normal weapons and vehicles can also spawn.
Those are just some ideas I had. What would you like to see in Invasion 2.0 if 343 decides to bring the gametype back?
