So, this here is just a pitch to 343 for an idea of a new/returning mode people may enjoy. Halo 5 already have a mode that acted like Invasion that being Warzone Assault. Blue team was the attackers having to capture two zones and the final phase was to destroy the enemy core.
So this new idea for Invasion is expand upon the older variant from Reach. Infinites fireteam limit is 28 players. Invasion 2.0 could raise the team size to 14 allowing for a 14v14 match. To improve on this idea they could add Generator Defense or some other types of objectives for players to complete for each phase.
Now, with the increase in players they could also add in AI’s. Some leaks have come out showing Banished on PvP maps. What if in Invasion 2.0 both UNSC and Banished had their own AI’s. (Now currently we can only play as Spartans. Later down the line they could introduce the return of Playable Elites and include a new option Playable Brutes.) The UNSC could have Marines and ODST’s by their side on the field. They could help assault/defend objectives if need be. The Banished could have Grunts, Jackals or Hunters or to mix it up have different mode variants that change the Banished forces for each match. One could have just grunts or grunts and jackals.
343 could also maybe implement a Req like system to the game. Allowing each team through the match to call in certain vehicles or reinforcements. This addition would also have a cooldown timer. The timer would be affected by whatever is called into the field.
A new evolved version of Invasion I feel would be good for Infinite. It would allow for a ton of new content to be placed into the game. One of the season could be entirely focused around this returning/new mode as well. These are just some ideas for this mode. If anyone else have some ideas to add to an Invasion 2.0 throw them out there. Maybe 343 will consider this.
Edit: With the idea of AI’s being spawned in by a Req type system. Hunters could be a special unit to spawn in during a match. You could also have something for the UNSC as well. Maybe also have an option if you are the one to call them in, you can use the waypoint ping to send tell them to move to that position to pinged.

I would love this with Brutes & Elites receiving ranks and loadouts with different health and shields.
For example you’d get a variety of Brutes.
- Brute Minor: Spawns with Spiker/Mangler
- Brute Officer: Spawns with bulldog, shields and heavier armour.
- Brute Captain: Spawns with jetpack, ravaged and heavier armour.
- Brute Juggernaut: Taller, 3rd person with a scrap/plasma cannon
- Brute Chieftain: 3rd person, can lunge great distances with gravity hammer and has a ton of health.
Spartans would obviously get equipment and what not as their advantage.
I also think it’d be awesome if 343 let us customise our own brutes with the variety of faces, beards, warpaint and hair already available to them.
A man can dream.

This is honestly such a great idea for a PvPvE style form of combat in the Halo franchise. I’m extremely hopeful that this game mode or something along the lines gets released and we can ooo and ahh about it for months and hopefully years!
Thank you for sharing fellow Spartan! Hooray

There is actually a modded mode for Reach MCC called Winter Contingency. Infection+Invasion game variant. Elites are attackers, aka the infected, with Spartans as the surviving defenders. It uses specific loadouts that determine the Elites ranks within loadouts.
- Plasma Rifle + Sprint = Minor
- Plasma Repeater + Bubble Shield = Officer
The mode balances itself out by nerfing the Elites the more their numbers increase.
I like your idea of different loadouts to determine what ranks the play becomes. But that would probably put more work onto 343 than need be. Especially since loadouts aren’t within Infinite. Plus giving the Banished players stronger shields may unbalance the game. Currently there are a lot of new Banished weapons being worked on. One being the carbine and the beam rifle which could match against the BR and the Sniper.
Balancing is probably one of the hardest things to work on in games.

Well, I wouldn’t call myself a Spartan. Not a big fan of their whole “This is a Spartan story” idea. Always played as an Elite. Part of this post is an idea to give a reason to bring back different playable species to give more content to the game. Along with player expression that has been removed for the last 12 years now.
Plus Invasion was my favorite mode in Reach. Seeing a 2.0 with the return of playable aliens, larger battles and maps would be an amazing addition to the game.

I hear you. Invasion was such an amazing game type in Halo Reach and a bigger version of it in Halo Infinite would be absolutely incredible to have in future Seasons.

I could imagine a whole season based around that mode. It’d be nice.

I’d love to see something combine H5’s Warzone with Reach’s Firefight.
In Reach, there was a setting that allowed players to pick teams. Blue team was Elites and they could fight alongside the Covenant to try and kill the humans (Red Team). It was relatively simple and evidently didn’t really catch on, but part of that had to do with how small scale it all was. Only 4 players, the A.I. was pretty simple, and loadout/vehicle spawing wasn’t as intricate. As well as, there weren’t as many objectives.
I’d like to see a multi-phase objective mode with two teams of 12 vs 8 + Banished A.I. Allies. Maybe the spartans have to defend zones (KotH/extraction style), defend a generator (warzone style), prevent a bomb from being planted, or even have phase where a flag must be protected. And maybe the phases are randomized to keep the mode fresh.
