Introduce a more challenging rank system to maintain motivation.

The basic system can remain as it is now.
I would like to see the highest rank after placement matches lowered from the current 5 diamonds to 5 platinum, and then the top 200 champions if Onyx reaches 500 people.
Champion is a rank granted to those within the top 200 in the rankings.

I’m not sure changing the post placement max ranking would change that much.

Your MMR is what it is. And it will just pull harder on your CSR. So, pretty much you will get max CSR gain for every win until they come together.

Dropping it by a whole division just slows it down by 20 or so games.

And Champion is troublesome. What does the top 200 mean anyway? - there would be quite poor correlation of CSR scores across servers and time zones. Even Josh Menke was quite scathing about the concept.

And my biggest fear is that it will just encourage even more toxic grinding of CSR. We already have people manipulating squads to try and milk a few points. Imagine how bad it will get if people are fighting over a Champion status.

By all means - award it for a certain CSR. eg. 1800. But I think any higher will be bad for the game.

Personally I would have a Champion’s table system. Whenever there is 4v4 Onyx players and an acceptable ping for all players then announce that the game is for Championship Points. The winners get a point and you can have a leader’s board.

Speaking of toxic csr grinding, just played a 2054 that was with a plat6. Shouldn’t be allowed :upside_down_face:. Barely lost tho, 4-3 in hill decided by 2 seconds. Mate dropped 10 points going positive
