Interesting Video I saw

This video is one I found. It is actually a rather well put together video by a person who is frustrated by how the franchise has progressed. He is rather unbiased in it and isn’t just bashing the developer in it like a lot of other people do.

I suggest you give it a watch, as it echos a lot of people’s feelings of the game that are too afraid to post here because they don’t want to get banned.

Oh wow so much arrogance of some halo community member…

What is the point of this? People, it’s just a game. You either play it or you don’t; it’s really just that simple.

It’s not just a game to some people. It is a franchise that some people hold very dear to their heart.

11 years ago, Halo was the first franchise I truly fell inlove with. I’d been introduced to FPS before with games like Goldeneye on the N64… But Halo was different. Its an important franchise that many people, including myself, grew up on. It shaped us as gamers.

Anyways, a lot of people do just simply stop playing Halo now because of how its detrioated. But because the franchise as a whole holds so much emotional value and nostalgic memories, it’s difficult for them to let it go entirely. Thats why they keep coming back.

Same goes for me.

This was a very well put together video, Domski. I hope a lot of people see this, including 343, as it sums up everything thats bad and good with halo 4.

Too some people, Halo is more than just a game. We grew up with Halo. I have been playing since I was 11 (I am 20 now) so it is kind of important to us.

If you don’t care, then why do you post on a Halo forum. If you really have no passion for the game, then you have no right to criticize those who do.

Some of us really care about this game and have devoted countless hours to playing it and it’s prequels.

It matters to us because we are real halo fans.

Such a great video. Halo 4 really does have a great core and plays smooth, but dang so many core halo components gone just for the sake of differentiating from Bungie’s halo. It’s depressing.

Hmm lets see, I picked up Halo CE the day the Xbox launched. I knew I wanted to get an Xbox but when I picked it up I had no idea what games to get. They guy in line at the midnight release said to get Halo for sure.

I took his advice and havent looked back since. I was 13 then… 13… I am now 24. I was playing this game and competing in tournaments before I could drive…

I have been an active community member on various different boards under various different user names for almost as long as I have been playing the game.

I have had many hobbies and interests come and go in 11 years. Many video games, many sports, many fads. Only Halo do I still follow so closely.

When I look at all that, I cant think of this as “just a game”… because to me it is way more than that.

When I get critical of where Halo is now to the point where I sound like I’m just crying… try to think of something you have loved for over a decade start to deteriorate into something else… It would make anyone upset.

I appreciate 343i trying something new, but that something new isn’t working to enhance the core experience. A game will always be good if you build your game to be competitive from the ground up, and make it easy to learn, and incredibly hard to master.

Case in point, Starcraft 2. The core game is balanced to a fine edge, polished to a bright sheen, and then given a mod system that allows you to create a Sims version of a Zerg colony.

It’s not just a game.

Halo 1 to 3 provided me with hours and hours of fun and competitive time.

I’m and old guy, I was 45 yrs old when I got the first Xbox with Halo CE and became my favorite way of evening entertainment and relaxation. (I hate tv and other than occasional sport I don’t watch at all)

To watch and see the downfall of this game that 343 wants to call Halo is pain full.

To watch and see the obstinance an mental obstipation of 343 that is destroying what it was a proud series is pain full.

Numbers don’t lie and the excuse that there is more competition doesn’t fly.

Bungie Reach injured Halo, 343 finished the job and killed Halo.

> Numbers don’t lie and the excuse that there is more competition doesn’t fly.

Extra true because it rhymes

Please watch and think about this video. Like many posting above me I’ve played Halo since I was 11 years old. I’m now 23 and Halo has great meaning to me. This game is incredible in some aspects and just lacking in others. That doesn’t mean it’s ruined, It means you don’t pull polished diamonds out of the earth you have to refine them.

The recent map pack release, coupled with news of a ranking system and rumors of a weapon balancing attempt prove that 343 really is trying to help the game. Please remember this for halo 5 though and release more maps geared towards small gametypes. Skyline is easily the best map Halo has seen to date keep trending the right way!

An absolutely horrible video from another self entitled individual.

The pseudo facts presented in the video are not supported. There are no balanced detailed facts for any of the older games. There are no benchmarks for what makes a Halo title successful. Using Halocharts only presents a very small piece of the information puzzle. Halocharts doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a repository for MM playlist populations. It doesn’t include, Spartan Ops MM, co-op or SP, Custom multiplayer, Campaign SP, MM or co-op, Forging or Theatre. All of these activities are what make up the whole of the active Halo fanbase.

The video really just comes down to, I liked ‘old Halo’ and I hate ‘new Halo’.

A five year old would create a far less biased video.

I welcome the day someone publishes a factual accounting of the relative success of Halo 4.

Current Sales numbers as of Feb 16th = 7.76m

Halo 3 Sales numbers = 11.51m

Halo 3 was top of xbox live activity for several years. Halo 4 has not only never been on the top, but it has fallen from second to fourth within 2 months of it’s release.

Having more competition is no excuse. Halo has every potential to be the best and it would be if Reach and H4 hadn’t destroyed it’s popularity.

The halo charts graph shows the population change. The numbers are not wrong and unless you can prove they are, then you have no room to debate them. They show that activity has dropped dramatically in a non-biased way (I.E. simple numbers). Sure, it just shows matchmaking, but you know as well as I do that the ammount of customs, mini-games, and customs has dropped significantly due to fewer custom options than a game that game out SIX years ago, and a theater that is less advanced than the one the game had SIX years ago. Also, Halo 4 hasn’t had a file browser until just a few days ago, and the previous one was significantly better. Due to this, the amount of custom gametypes that has been sharable has dropped significantly.

The only two things you listed that may be true are spartan ops or campaign increase, but those ONLY play to the crowd that likes to play the campaign 6 thousand times. Oh, and theater doesn’t exist for Campaign anymore either.

Sales figures show it is worse, activity levels show it is worse, and common sense show it is worse. You have to be highly biased against previous games in order to honestly think that Halo 4 is better than classic halos.
