At the end of the demo yesterday, we got introduced to Escharum, one of the villains of Infinite. We gave a pretty cool speech. An interesting aspect of his talk is when he says the Harbinger and the Banished share the same goal, to honor the will of Atriox. Now, we of course know nothing of whatever the Harbinger. Could be a single individual or a group/faction. A theory in the past 24 hours that I saw has me curious and hoping it’s the case. It’s the theory that this Harbinger is actually the Didact. There are a few definitions, one of which means a forerunner of something. Would be interesting if the Didact has sided with the Banished in wiping out Humanity, and that he is playing the Banished, and actually doesn’t have the will of Atriox in mind. Would really love for this theory to be true, as it’d be a great time to bring the Didact back. However, I highly doubt it’s going to happen. It just seems like they’ve decided to not bring in back in the games, and plus with this Escharum guy and Cortana, bringing in the Didact would suffer from having too many villains in the Campaign. What’d you think do you like this theory and do you think it’s at least possible?
I really hope this happens. If the Didact is revealed to to be behind everything I’d be so happy because it means the 343 series might finally have some semblance of a cohesive story line. Unfortunately 343 seems to have caved to the haters* AGAIN (at least in the story department) and reset everything to basic, boring humans vs. Covenant (wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the Flood shows up as well). I really really really hope I’m wrong but between this and the graphics clearly being under cooked 343 appears to have panicked and rebooted the game near the end of development just like Anthem. I don’t think this game’s gonna have anything going for it in the long run. No story, controversial gameplay, no flagship-worthy graphics. Hope y’all story haters are happy cause you may have in part ruined what could have been a standout part of this game.
*To clarify, I’m ok with people not liking 343’s story, that’s completely fine. I’m talking about the people who are constantly shouting “retcon 4 and 5!” “Chief just had a bad dream he’s still in cryo” etc. instead of giving 343 a chance to salvage the story.

There was an interview yesterday when they asked who is Harbinger and the response was:“You’re making an assumption it’s a guy”
Also they said like it’s building something for the future,so it may not be fully known till dlc/expansion imo.
