Interesting idea

Wouldn’t it be a good idea if top ranked champion players play tested new heroes before they were released and gave some feedback and recommendations to the developers? That would also be a pretty sweet reward seeing as how there’s nothing. I think blitz would benefit from this more. specifically for cost of cards, duration of abilities, and how formidable and viable they could be vs top tier leaders. Champion players are the ones leading the meta after all. The community can really benefit from this and it would definitely give a lot of players motivation to keep rising through the ranks. You can take like the top 10 players from each season and give them a chance to duke it out with each other and it could help those balance updates tremendously

I mean, its for people who could potentially be biased on the idea of certain heroes, its not like 343 would change it based on one voice, and if that’s the case, why would they need to play-test it at all? I’m sorry I’m just not sure if I want some champion changing around what could be a really cool unit into something that is uncreative but “Viable” If they are only providing feedback on what would work and what wouldn’t.
Honestly, its up in the air for me, and It wouldn’t really affect me since I’m never going to be champion, hahaha!

Of course, I understand what you’re saying and obviously the developers would have the final say in everything I wouldn’t want one persons opinion deciding the fate of a concept or idea. It would all be just for feedback and obviously any feedback given to developers would have to be backed up by a lot of data, playtesting, and reasoning. Also like I said it would give people more of an incentive to rise through the ranks and be on top

I’d love this, but I don’t see it happening in the future. They’d likely run into issues with leaks and such.

This could be a good way to reward people for finishing high on the ranking. Get champion, get access to a “Proving Grounds” game type where you can play the beta of the update. Maybe a week later the Onyx players get a go then once the bugs are ironed out release it for everyone.

At this point I don’t think leaks for a huge issue but this would definitely be the best way to reward champion players

Wouldn’t this further encourage dodging though? Dodging is so damn toxic. I really hope this patch will address this somehow.

Yeah but if they fix it and hide all info about your opponent then it will work.
