So if you didn’t know already, Brad Welch (design director 343i) posted some tweets with some very promising and interesting information regarding Competitive Multiplayer in Halo 5.

“Arena means what you’d expect - competitive focus, level playing field, map control. Spartan abilities are player mechanics not loadout AAs.”

Sounds like the same news we’ve been getting since E3.
I don’t care as long as I get to play as a spartan with my Assault Rifle and BR I will be a happy camper. All the hoopla about AA and CL means nothing to me.
But Frank did say something interesting about the Multiplayer though. He said that the Arena style was only a small part of Halo multiplayer. So maybe other playlists will allow Sprint and CLs. Here’s to hoping…

This is rather old, but to me seems like PR talk. It might be true, but they told us what we want to hear right after E3 trying to get the hype up.
They still want to cater to beginners in every way they can like remove skilljumps, making them easier etc have lots of aim assist and so on, giving us a pretty looking ranking system that doesn’t work, that also takes away from the experience of the game.
Let’s hope they make it more about skill again
Have we gotten any outright bad news yet? And no, Spartan abilities don’t count as bad news yet. https://twitter.com/quinndelhoyo/status/488558650676346880
They can try and butter me up all they want, but I’m not jumping on the hype train til I see some gameplay exemplifying the arena philosophy.

Honestly, if 343i just gives us the tools to really mess with the game through Custom Gmes, I think we can make great things even with loadouts and sprint.

You know why Competitive Halo was great in the past? Because the difference between casual and competitive gametypes was if radar was on or off. That’s it. Of course we could go to work and make the best competitive gametypes but no one is going to want to play a completely different game from what they are used to playing in matchmaking.

It wouldn’t be two totally different games. CL and Sprint don’t really change gameplay that much for me. I personally would like to be able to switch between classic and new Halo in one game. I like both styles…
