I was taking a look at interceptor armor and noticed how close it is to spi, it looks like a updated/new gen spi you can even see a bit of mark v B and the spi from headhunters animation there like if its tech was mixed, also the description says its highly customizable and I believe spi was like that,so that makes interceptor the third armor that looks like spi the others being nightfall and buccaneer, as for the helmet buccanneer and eva from reach are the closest ones.what you guys think?btw this is my first post on waypoint
here is a link to small comparison I made

Uum, i don’t see the liking, sorry
Nothing against you,but the GIF at tje end of the page was more interresting then the comparsion.
ok, feel free to post here what you guys think that looks like spi, the more we keep bringing this up the more are the chances 343 will notice!!

i think that the buccaneer helmet looks most like SPI but not too sure in terms of body, i use nightfall to represent it sometimes in halo 5
Yeah nightfall is pretty close, I hope 343 has not discarded the old spi and changed it to wrath or a new version with terrible design, wrath is cool but its description says its gonna be used by future headhunters

wha? Here’s a ODST. Here’s a Spartan wearing Nightfall armor. Here’s a Spartan wearing SPI armor. Now tell me which one looks the most like the other. If you want something that really looks like SPI look at the Buccaneer armor.
Interceptor? Other than having rounded shapes, I really don’t see any resemblance between it and SPI. Nightfall also doesn’t look like SPI. Torso armor, shoulder pads, legs, and, well, pretty much everything about it say “ODST, but not quite”.
nightfall is a step above the odst bdu armor just like spi (didnt used to be, since Locke was wearing it before being a spartan just like odsts testing spi), and yeah Buccaneer could be spi but a few facts made me doubt it like its chest being too round, the upper legs armor pieces being too short and not round, the feet looking different ,its description says it could have been a mjolnir variant before but the thing is that spi was not a mjolnir, otherwise odsts would never have tested it because they would die, there is a possibility that buccaneer could be a heavilly damaged and modified MARK III spi, since we never saw or heard about it maybe that version was a mjolnir and maybe it got damaged during production or field test by the covenant by the end of the war.
as you can see here, halopedia never says spi was a mjolnir and the spi has been phased out by 2558 while still being field tested by spartan G-059 (the year halo 5 takes place) but some still wear it (modified) plus you can also see that a few odst units are using it and they dont have enhanced musculature and stuff.
SPI “Environmental controls
The suit possesses rudimentary environmental regulation system to maintain a comfortable temperature for the wearer.[38] However, the system is not designed for extended use and it will become increasingly uncomfortable to wear if used continuously over long periods of time.[39] As of 2552, the Mark II SPI armor is also fully sealed and contains an internal oxygen supply.[20] The armor also has an efficient cooling system and is significantly difficult to detect even with thermal scanners.[16]” -halopedia
“Nightfall armor. The armor was built to function in extreme temperate conditions”- halopedia
"Spartans recruited from the Marine Corps favor the GEN2 Nightfall armor when stationed on inhospitable worlds due to its best-in-class life support.[3] “- halo 5 armor description”
also note that as I stated on the posts above about buccaneer this could explain why it was heavily damaged, and also a explanation to why master chief armor changed a lot from halo 3 to 4
"In 2556, Watershed Division was placed under “Active Investigation” by ONI after the February 7 terrorist attack.[4] Following the Mission to Installation 03, John-117’s Mark VI Mjolnir received an upgrade from the Watershed Division that brought it into the GEN2 line.[5] " -halopedia
Watershed Division also had two facilities producing spi at
- Currahee Special Assembly Plant 2, Onyx (Formerly) - A facility on Trevelyanboth of those at Onyx the place of a major covenant and construct conflicts
Yeah, just gonna real quick add to everyone else and say Interceptor looks NOTHING like SPI.
As noted above, Buccaneer and Freebooter are much closer in shape. Actually, now that I think about it, if you removed the fins and eyes from the Timmy helmet, it would look pretty damn close too.
Wonder if thats the canonically origin of the helmet; some S-III, in a fit of jokey humor, stuck fins and a tail onto an SPI helmet and said it was a whale.

> Semi-Powered Infiltration armor - Armor - Halopedia, the Halo wiki
The fact that Semi-Powered Infiltration isn’t MJOLNIR is something well-known with anyone who is familiar with SPI, so I’m not sure what you’re trying to get at here.

Chief’s armor modifications between 3 and 4 are supposedly due to nanomachines. The upgrade to GEN2 occurred after Halo 4, giving him the Mark VI [GEN2] MOD that he uses in Halo 5.

Not sure what you’re trying to say here. BUCCANEER-class is described as a crude yet functional MJOLNIR variant. Combine that with the fact that the UNSC didn’t seem to have any records of its existence prior to its discovery makes me doubt that it’s a third iteration of SPI. Hell, I’d be more willing to believe that it was an attempt by some Insurrectionist cell or currently defunct company to design a variation of MJOLNIR armor.

The TIMMY-class helmet apparently doesn’t actually exist as an actual armor component. It’s actually a simulation glitch of some type or Easter egg type of thing left in by whoever programs War Games simulations.

No, the helmet exists. If you read the description carefully, they mention the helmet being worn. Its the odd sensation and need to create that’s the possible simulation result.
“*Whether it is a glitch in the War Games simulator or the creation of a mad programmer, those who wear the enigmatic TIMMY helmet claim to hear a siren song that drives them to build and create.”*It doesnt explicitly say the helmet isn’t a thing.

Oh. Hm. Interpreted that wrong. Seems odd that it exists, then.

We don’t have confirmation one way or another at the moment, just the text of the helmet itself. It can be taken both ways honestly.
But I, personally, like to believe that it exists because a Spartan-III got bored one day, stuck bits of plastic onto the sides and back of an old SPI GEN III helmet and said it was a whale. Hence, as noted earlier, its resemblance to the actual suit. Or at least, I see it.

Yeah, it definitely does look like it could be a customized SPI helmet.

Not entirely out of character for the S-IIIs we know of as well, as Last Light showed.

yeah I also noted that it resembles the mirage class helmet from spi , would be good if 343 released a version of it without that whale stuff

That would be nice but I wouldn’t hold your breath for it. We were lucky to get the helmet itself in the first place, and for the most part the games seem rather interested in keeping the S-IIIs in the extended lore where they belong (bar Halo Reach which has…a myrad of problems)
